Questions & Answers

Is it possible to place this in the garden and connect it to a hose, or does it need to be installed at the spigot?

I installed it on a spigot, but it would be easy to connect to a garden hose because of the design. You should definitely fix the timer so that it is not on the ground.

How much water pressure do you need to run your machine? Is this something that will work on a gravity-based system? a rain barrel as a source of water?

80 PSI br>If the pressure in your rain barrel is 15 psi, it should work, but it is unlikely.

Very adaptable and dependable
5/5

I'm a huge fan of these Dig hose timers - I've had four of them for about six or seven years, and I recently purchased two more. Every single one of them is in good working order. br>br>I live in a house with a big front yard - 15,000 to 20,000 square feet is the average size. I need to water it three times a day for the first week, twice a day for the second week, once a day for the third week, and every few days for the following weeks when I overseed. If I don't move the sprinklers around, it will take 10 sprinklers to cover the entire yard. ) I'm a big fan of the Dig timers. They can turn on a hose up to four times a day for a set amount of time automatically (only one length of watering time for all programs), or you can turn it on manually and it will run for the time you set for the programs. It's just a smidgeon of non- It's not easy to set up at first, but once you've done it a few times, it'll be second nature. peasy. The multiple programs per day make overseeding and reseeding a breeze for me. The rest of the sprinklers are on timers as well, but those timers don't have multiple programs per day, so for a couple of weeks, I'll have to manually turn them on at just the right time. br>br>Most of the time, my timers are connected to hose splitters that are lying on the ground. To keep moisture out of the battery case and the timer innards, I usually cover the battery cover with duct tape. Despite the fact that the timers get watered, I've been doing this for years and have yet to have water get into the electronics. it rained on and on- I take the batteries out of the car and store them in the garage for the winter. br>br>I'm a big fan of my dig timers.

Reading and programming it is difficult
3/5

It's difficult to see the LCD display and operate the controls while this timer is installed because of the way it attaches to the outdoor tap. In comparison to similar products, this makes adjustment difficult. br>I have a quick release spicket adapter attached so that when I need to make changes, I can remove it and take it to a light source. It is more programmable than the majority, but the setup instructions could be better. br>Apart from that, it has proven to be dependable and useful.

Experiential Learning in Three Units - The very first season
5/5

I bought three of these in early September and cycled them four times a day until early November. They ran without a hitch, with no leaks, and their programming functionality was unaffected (no display issues). I used lithium batteries, and after these two weeks, all three units were still running strong. months of nonstop usage Programming was also a breeze for me. br>br>I'm still concerned about some of the negative reviews, but we won't know if they'll work next season for about a year. Please feel free to ask for an update at that time if any readers are interested. br>br>Before purchasing this, I tried a few different timers (all of which had some negative reviews - see below). Due to leaking, I had to return them (as did this product). The four extremely flexible programming options are the product's standout feature. It's ideal for new grass seed, which necessitates four short watering cycles per day to keep the seedlings moist until they grow out of the danger zone of drying out.

While it was working, it was fantastic
3/5

After having three different types of water timers fail in the space of a few years, I thought this one looked promising. It was simple to set up and worked flawlessly throughout the summer. It was then sprayed with water and filled! What the hell is going on? On the battery door, there's a rubber seal. gluing the two halves together They didn't appear to be of much assistance. I emptied the water out of the two halves and hung it to dry overnight in front of a fan. Although the electronics functioned, the "open" function did not. I'm trying to get it replaced right now.

In programming, there is a design flaw
3/5

The installed software for programming the unit was extremely difficult to use, so I gave it a three-star rating. In my experience, the unit was programmed to water at a specific time and for a specific period of time; However, when the scheduled watering time arrived, the unit opened the valve and water began to flow; The timer for watering, on the other hand, would run down to 0: Instead of stopping the watering process at 00, start counting up and continue to water. My garden area was flooded as a result of this. I returned one unit and asked for a replacement, and the second did the same. I couldn't get a satisfactory response to my e-mail when I called the company for technical support. Inquiry via email Later, I discovered that a technical person would have to walk you through the settings with the unit in hand, indicating that the software has a design flaw, and the second unit was returned as defective. Later, I found a quality unit from another manufacturer that works as it should and requires no technical assistance.

What a waste of money!! I've had the unit for a year and a half
3/5

The operating valve has become stuck in the open position and will not close no matter what I do. This is unacceptable because I am frequently away from home for 5 to 6 months at a time and must rely on this to irrigate my garden. What happens if I'm not around to keep an eye on things on a daily basis? My county's water department would love it, but neither would my plants or my wallet! The issue has been reported by a large number of other customers. Will return to DIG because it is still under warranty, but even if they replace it, I will not use it because it cannot be trusted to work properly.

The most effective flow timer! So far, out of five different brands, this is the best timer I've found
4/5

I'd been looking for a timer that didn't restrict water flow too much, and this one fits the bill! It's made in the United States as well. which is a plus as well. The only thing I've noticed so far is that when it sits in the hot sun for an extended period of time, the battery indicator indicates that it is low, but when it cools down, it indicates full. We'll have to wait and see if this becomes a bigger problem. Overall, it's a fantastic timer at an exceptional price.
