This bench has already been stained, but a second coat of polyurethane wouldn't hurt.
The wood has a rough finish, but it's smooth enough to use right away. To protect it, I'm going to apply a layer of Thompson's water sealer.

The swing glider is a nice addition to our outdoor furniture on our deck after it has been assembled. On two counts, putting it together would have been simpler. First and foremost, the instructions are in the form of pictures with no written commentary. To avoid having to go back and redo a step in the process, you must examine those images very carefully. In fact, I put the seat bottom on backwards, and there was no way to get it back into place. That's when I realized the bottom of the seat had to be reversed, which meant more time and effort. That was the second time I had to undo and redo a step, so look at the pictures carefully. Second, the glider has four ball bearings for movement. To tighten the locking nuts, you must keep the bearings from moving, and the provided wrenches are too thick to do so. I had some "thin" wrenches but none that were the right size, so I used a pair of long nose pliers to get enough "bite" on the bearings to keep them from turning, and I was able to secure all of the locking nuts. My guess is that a lot of people won't get those nuts on tight enough, and the glider will be dangerous as a result. On the plus side, when I checked in all the parts before starting to put it together, I noticed that they included an extra of almost every part, such as a fifth bolt if you needed four. I dropped a couple of items during assembly and discovered that the extra nut or bolt came in handy, allowing me to finish the job. It's easy to drop a nut, and it bounces and rolls around, making it difficult to locate; having an extra nut came in handy. In the end, if you don't know how to use tools, you might have a hard time putting this glider together. It's possible you'll need some assistance with this.
It's simple to put together, but the wrenches that came with it don't fit the nuts; you'll only need a screwdriver and a few small adjustable wrenches. For example, instead of the brass rocker arms used by most manufacturers, wood rocker arms are used. The glider arrived three days ahead of schedule and in excellent condition from the seller.
This swing is fantastic; however, I only gave it three stars because it appears to be a return. Some of the wood appeared to be splintered, as if it had been assembled and then disassembled.
The glide bolts could not be tightened because the assembly lacked the proper wrench. I ground the correct sized wrench to a very thin profile and used it to tighten the glide bolts to their final tightness. The glide is quiet and smooth, just like the natural wood finish. br> It's the perfect size for our living room.
The unit is simple to put together. Very nice, and the parts all fit together perfectly. It's very relaxing.
It's simple to put together and move around, and it's light enough for two people. The only issue is that the company sent me the incorrect size wrenches; otherwise, I'm satisfied.
