Questions & Answers

In Florida, is it permissible to leave this out in the open? Is there any hope?

Metal components, on the other hand, I'm not so sure about. If you've already weatherproofed, stained, or painted it, the hinges, bolts, and other components shouldn't be an issue. We keep ours inside our covered deck and have had no issues with humidity (though not as much as some parts of Florida) during the summer months or the bitter cold and snow of northern New York; This is the best answer I can give you; hopefully, it will assist you in making your decision.

Is there a porch bench with a vintage metal glider?

If you're wondering if this is an old-fashioned metal glider porch bench, the answer is no; it's made of cedar with metal accents.

What happened to the instructions for putting it all together?

The instructions should've been included in the package. They may have fallen out of the box if it was damaged in any way. I'd look up the company and contact them to have another one sent to you.

Is there pre-drilling on the pieces to make assembly a breeze?

Yes. The units at the back and bottom have already been pre-assembled. The remaining pieces are predrilled and assembled. It took less than 30 minutes to put the whole thing together. br>Mine has been around for at least 5 years and is still in good shape.

Glider is a good word to describe a person who glides well
3/5

Instructions are terrible. The glider is one of my favorites. It appears to be well-made, and it arrived in good condition. The items were well-packaged and in good condition. It's easier to do a good job staining before putting it together, so I did it before assembling. I assumed it would be simple to put together because there are only a few pieces. It wasn't difficult, but the difficulty came from the instructions, which were terrible! Others had complained about the poor instructions, but they were still able to assemble the slider. Because I'm more mechanically inclined than the average person, I decided to order the glider. But once I started putting it together, all I could do was shake my head at the instructions. They started with the seat assembly, which had seven 3-inch bolts. The instructions call for three inch bolts, but the parts list only three. There were four three-year-olds among them. 1/4-inch bolts were used, but the instructions never mentioned them. They claimed to have two 4-year-olds among the group. inch bolts, but the instructions never specified that they be used, and there was only one in the kit to begin with! Now it's time to attach the gliding brackets to the glider base and seat. To begin, they claim to include eight carriage bolts for installation of the brackets. They aren't carriage bolts in the least. Hex bolts, to be precise. They even include a diagram showing how the bolts should be installed in relation to the washers and nuts, because if you do it their way, the glider will rub on the wood when you move it. There is a proper way to install the bolts, and it is not the method shown in the instructions. So, what's my final verdict? I like the slider. The wood appears to be of good quality cedar and is well constructed. If you're mechanically inclined, you'll have no trouble putting it together once you realize that the instructions are more likely to confuse you than to enlighten you. Examine the illustrations but don't rely on the instructions for guidance. It doesn't matter how long the bolt is in the end; If not for the misdirection provided in the assembly instructions, this glider would have been very simple to put together. It's almost as if they're attempting to perplex you on purpose.

Glider Bench is a fantastic piece
5/5

It's a great bench. Arrive in perfect condition. Assembly was simple, and the cedar wood was well prepared, requiring only minor sanding in a few spots. The pre- The assembly was well-done and everything was in place. We used Olympic Honey Golden stain to stain it before putting it together, and the result is fantastic. The glider mechanism is smooth and easy to operate. I'm very happy.

Beautiful and easy to put together
5/5

This was a breeze to assemble for me as an intermediate DIYer. The instructions were written in an extremely clear and concise manner. With Fine grade sandpaper, I smoothed out a few areas. There were no gouges or other damage visible on any of the pieces, and all necessary hardware was present. It took me about an hour and a half to put it together by myself, taking my time and double-checking as I went. It looks great and works well once it's put together. It's a hit with the whole family, especially our newborn, who enjoys being rocked while listening to the birds. When you walk out the front door, the entire porch emits a cedar scent. This book comes highly recommended. They are currently sold out, but if they become available again, you should purchase one.

Make sure you have a drill on hand
3/5

Before you buy it, keep the following in mind: You'll require the services of a handyman. Because none of the company's holes in the base line up with any other holes, you'll need a drill. A cracked slat on the seat required gluing. Is it really cedar if the cedar smell isn't very strong? Only after it rained did I notice a difference in the smell of the wood. Expect to work on the project for at least 2 to 3 hours. It is extremely dissatisfying to me that it does not glide! It initially glides but then rocks. I wanted a glider, not a rocker, and it's very stiff, requiring a lot of effort to push. In odd places, notches have been cut out of the wood for no apparent reason. It's appealing to the eye while also being relaxing to sit on. I believe I should have gone with my backup glider option. It's pleasing to the eye, but I'm disappointed in the overall result. One of the slats on the glider broke when my husband sat down on it on June 15, 21. He had to take it off and reassemble it with glue. He pointed out the weak spots in the wood. Not pleased at all.
