Questions & Answers

We live in central California, about ten miles from the coast, and we'd like to reseed our horse pasture. What product would you recommend?

This seed mix is fantastic, though I must point out that we live in Northern Virginia, where we get plenty of rain and sunshine; I'm not sure what conditions you have in Central California, but I'm guessing there's less rain and more heat!

After seeding, how long should I keep my horses away from the pasture?

I keep mine off until the new grass begins to sprout, otherwise they will eat it just as it begins to grow. I sow the seed in April and don't allow the horses to enter the pasture until June.

When can I expect to see the first signs of germination?

I planted my seed three weeks ago, and we didn't get any rain for two weeks, but it now looks good after a week of rain and sun. I'm not sure who to ask because this is the first time I've planted this type of seed.

What is the best way to grow a creeper or a path?

It never even sprouted in my yard.

This is a nice seed mixture to use on top of other seeds
4/5

The seed was marketed as a pasture rejuvenation and overseeding mix. This is what I used in the horse pastures. I've had the seed for about 5 weeks now, and I'm seeing results. Old roll holes are now covered in young grass, the pastures' overall appearance has improved, and grass is sprouting in high-traffic areas. My Ranger UTV's seed/fertilizer spreader attachment was used to spread the seed. The seed did not clog the spreader and spread evenly. Overall, I'm happy with the results thus far.

It was an excellent solution
5/5

We had an acre pasture that had been overrun by dandelions for quite some time. We live on the outskirts of Park City, at an elevation of 5900 feet. Last year, in the middle of the year, I broadcasted it by hand. April, and by the middle of the month, The entire pasture was knee-high or higher in May. This year, I'm going to put 1/2 a bag on it and in our small orchard, as everything seems to be coming back so far this spring. This is a product that I strongly recommend.

There was not a single sprig of grass to be found
3/5

None of this grass grew for me, so I brought some seeds into the house and put them in water to see if they would sprout, but they didn't. Then I planted some in the house's dirt, and nothing happened. There wasn't a single sprig to be found. Really bad product; it's too late to return the rest because it took me over a month to do a thorough test; extremely overpriced for no reason!.

The seed didn't take
3/5

It was a waste of money! After a couple of weeks of rain and warm sun, I bought two 25lb bags to over seed in worn pasture areas and followed the instructions, but nothing grew. It's been more than six weeks! VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE STATE OF WASHINGTON! I looked at several seed products on Amazon before settling on Pasture Land. It didn't work for me, but I had previously over seeded with another product and been very happy with the results, and the horses adore those areas! To submit this review, I only had to give one star.

The germination rate is very low
3/5

This product has been in the ground for over three weeks and I have seen very little germination. We've had a lot of rain, so I've kept the animals away. It's possible you got a vintage bag. To be safe, I'd go with a different brand.

Growing at a rapid rate I wasn't expecting to see this kind of Bermuda grass
5/5

It is well-liked by my horses, grows quickly (it was planted in early March), and appears to be resistant to horse traffic.

This is the only seed that I have planted in large quantities
5/5

This is the only orchard and rye grass seed I've planted, and it's the only one that has grown.

Bad seed
3/5

Don't waste your money on this nonsense! I've spent my entire life planting seeds and have never witnessed anything like this. There was not a single seed that sprouted. I followed the instructions to the letter, but I have nothing to show for it.
