With Scotts Turf Builder Rapid Grass Tall Fescue Mix, you can have a new lawn in a matter of weeks; when applied at the new lawn rate, it grows up to 2x faster than seed alone (subject to proper care).
In just weeks, a unique, proprietary combination of tall fescue seed and fertilizer mix produces full green grass; expect grass to grow in as little as 11 days and as much as 21 days.
This tall fescue grass seed and fertilizer combination will revolutionize the way you grow grass; it's the most comprehensive solution for large problem areas in your lawn as well as establishing new grass.
The best times to plant grass seed are in the fall and spring, when temperatures are between 60°F and 80°F and the risk of frost has passed.
For best results, lightly rake the soil to remove debris; spread grass seed with a Scotts spreader; water daily or as needed to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach a height of at least 2 to 3 inches; one 5. 6-lb. up to 1,845 sq. ft. of seeds in a bag ft.

Questions & Answers

Is it possible to reseed a thin lawn in the south without having to till it?

In the south, regardless of the type of fescue seed or where you are in the south, if you don't aerate first, all fescue is difficult to germinate. We've had good results by simply hiring a local aeration company for $100 in the spring and then applying the fescue seed. However, if your yard receives a lot of sun, it will be more difficult to germinate in the spring, even after aeration, because the ground temperature may be too warm, delaying germination. Fescue is a grass/seed that grows well in cooler climates. br>br>In our experience, the months of October and November are the best. is still the best fescue reseeding method - If you aerate or simply toss seeds down in spots, water, and then leave it alone for two weeks (literally, no foot traffic), you'll almost certainly see results. Even if aerating first, you'll want to watch the weather report to see if there's a cool stretch and rains predicted in your area. Spring fescue reseed/overseed can also work in the south prior to near constant ground warming in May, April latest. Then there was nothing but still water, water, water, and no one around. Ideally, a month or two before aerating/reseeding, you should prepare the soil as follows: Humic acid, lime, and fert (we use Milorganite) to loosen the soil. Then aerate, apply a light top dressing, sprinkle fescue seed on top, apply more top dressing, and water for 10 minutes. There will be no foot traffic for 14 days (and no dogs!). br>br>In case you didn't know, The process of growing a thick, healthy fescue lawn is more time-consuming than growing other types of grass, but the results are well worth it with a year-round green carpet if done correctly. Soooo. Because every other fescue seed contains some weed seed, it's best to just bite the bullet and pay for a high-quality NO WEED seed like **Winning Colors/LebanonTurf's**. That will germinate into weeds and compete with the fescue, forcing you to use chemicals to eradicate them. Even if the fescue seed mixture only contains. Weeds will germinate with the fescue if you use 02 weed seed.

Although I have a lawn, this winter has been particularly difficult. My grass will grow, but can I supplement it with turf builder or simply toss seeds once it starts to grow?

This product includes fertilizer, which is an advantage over simply throwing seeds.

I'm not sure yet because it's only been a month since it sprouted from seed, but ask me again in a month or so.

It was well worth the money
5/5

Although this grass seed is not the cheapest, it is well worth the investment. I seeded over a 10' x 4' area where weeds had choked out the grass. When I first started doing Weed, I was a little unsure of what I was getting myself into When it came time to feed the animals, it was discovered that there was no more grass. I used a hand spreader to spread the seed and then covered it with about a half inch of top soil. I had a nice patch of grass in a month's time. While it was growing, I fenced it in to keep it safe from being stepped on. In my opinion, don't scrimp on quality. Purchase a seed of lower quality. Scott's was a great deal.

There was not even a single sprout
3/5

I've been seeding my lawn for decades, and it always sprouts in the spring and dies out during our 95-degree summer days in Southern California. Because of the water, seed, and fertilizer combination, I was intrigued by this product, despite its high price. I raked the lawn, applied the mix, and watered it for 15 minutes every day or so to keep it moist. After two months, not a single sprout had appeared, and my lawn had turned completely brown. My lawn was completely destroyed as a result. So now we're looking to hire a professional landscaper to start from scratch and then seed and fertilize; I'm not sure what went wrong, but I'm glad I didn't buy it.

MANY THINGS ON AMAZON ARE FAKE "THESE DAYS," BUT THIS ONE IS NOT
5/5

I've been an Amazon Prime customer for over two decades, and I'm also a MULTIFACETED individual who knows a little bit about a lot of things. With that said, things on Amazon have gotten worse over the last two decades in terms of high-quality products like the rest of the USA, so I no longer buy USA name brands that were the cream of the crop "back in da day," and I am left with only one option today: I read reviews and put my faith in the "Chinese SUBSTANDARD WIND," because everything is made in China for the USA. btw, China has no "quality control" for products made there, so even if a product says "USA" on it, it is almost always made in China,, Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised that this grass seed lived up to its amazon description: "Rapid Grass Tall Fescue Mix: I can't speak for everyone else, but this worked surprisingly well for my geographical location. I've purchased a number of Scotts grass seed products that have turned out to be crab grass or pure wild weeds all over my lawn. Actually, this is the first time it has worked.

Nothing has happened in the last two months
3/5

I haven't seen any grass in almost two months: I used it to cover bare spots in the yard and had the yard ready for it. Nothing ever grew, no matter how hard you tried. The "seeds" have remained undisturbed for some time. It was disappointing.

This grass seed is so good that it's creepy! This is INCREDIBLY GOOD stuff! I had no choice but to rip it up
5/5

Entire lawn, rototiller to make it flat from all the holes my dogs have dug, and start from scratch with this. We could already see signs of life after only four days, and after two weeks, I had a nearly new lawn with beautiful soft, lush grass! br>Now I'm about to tell you something you're not going to believe. Do you remember the old adage about sitting on the grass and watching it grow? I was watering around day 7 and was overjoyed with how well it was coming along. I was watering the front lawn when I noticed how much the new lawn had grown! This continued for several days until I decided to simply stand still and observe it. IT WAS EXPANDING IN FRONT OF MY EYES! br>So, because I didn't want to be hauled off to the Looney Bin, I didn't tell anyone about it. Then my handyman came up to me with an almost disturbed look on his face and said, "I KNOW YOU'LL THINK I'M CRAZY, BUT I CAN SEE THE DARN GRASS GROWING IN FRONT OF MY EYES!" "br>And I exclaimed, "BINGO!" lmaobr>This is insanely good stuff!

For me, it works perfectly
5/5

This is the best grass seed I've tried out of all the grass seed I've tried out while cleaning and converting wooded acreage to lawn. What I'm doing entails constructing sections of lawn from the ground up. I sometimes have new topsoil delivered, and other times I rework the sandy soil that already exists. It has germinated and filled in uniformly, even in sandy areas. One thing I'd like to point out is that I may be guilty of overwatering areas closer to the house where sprinklers can reach. This seed has thrived in areas where they've had at least a few days of natural rain but don't receive my morning and afternoon watering. For the time being, I'm going to stick with this. Preparation is crucial, as it is with all seeds. I loosen the top few inches of soil, rake it flat, spread the seed, rake it in, and roll it.

Oh, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my IT GREW! From a bare patch of dirt to a lush green lawn in the making
5/5

I've tried a variety of other seeds with no luck, but we now have a lush green lawn that needs to be mowed. I was told by my neighbors that I would never be able to do it without going to a specific nursery, but HA, they were wrong. I'm going to go out and get some more to make it even more luxurious! br>br>It's just a matter of watering watering watering watering watering watering watering watering watering watering watering watering watering water.
