I'm considering coming back because I don't consider annual grass to be of good quality.
Almost every year, a section of my lawn's grass is damaged. Because the damaged area is so large, I'm concerned about the quality and price. Because of the negative reviews, I was initially hesitant to purchase this product. However, I decided to take a chance because of my positive past experience with many negatively reviewed products. It took six people to complete. It took 7 days for my bare lawn to be covered by nascently lovely grass. The preparation of the lawn area for cultivation and the selection of the appropriate covering soil are critical to the success of grass seed germination. Poor/no germination is expected if the dead grass is not removed and the soil is not allowed to recover from the use of weed control chemicals. It is necessary to use seed-covering soil that absorbs moisture and keeps the seeds moist. Product that comes highly recommended!.
I rent an apartment. Due to the extreme heat in the desert here and a lack of attention to it, our front yard was in bad shape. I bought it because I had never used any of Scott's products before. Two bags were given to me. After watering the yard for two days prior to seeding, I used one whole bag on June 12th. After two weeks, I opened the second bag and filled in the bald spots where the seed had been washed away by our sprinklers. My photos were taken on June 12th and July 4th, three weeks later. I did notice a lot of clover-like growth among it, but that's fine with me as long as it's green and the yard looks better.
On Amazon, I saw a good deal until I saw how much annual seed was included. Although I had intended to plant in the fall, I realized that by spring, much of the grass would have died. In April of 2021, I plan to plant.
It has been a month and grass is filling in my bare hillside. It went from dirt to 75% greener in this time only watering daily when it didn't rain during this time% I'm impressed with the progress, as I've seen lawn care companies produce poor results with "high-quality" seed and expensive aeration and fertilization programs. I'm fairly confident that by seeding in the spring, I'll be able to turn a barren hill into a lush lawn. By the summer of 2021, I'll keep you updated.
My yard used to be bare dirt, but now it's a golf course green. I believe the soil you begin with makes a significant difference. Combine this seed with Scotts Turf Builder Lawn Fertilizer if the soil quality is already poor. It does what it says on the tin! I'm now on my second 20-pound bag, filling in the gaps that I missed the first time around. Seed, rake, and water are all things that need to be done. Heat and sun will speed up the process, but too much sun and insufficient water will reverse it. Overall, I'm a big fan of this product.
In mid-October 2020, with very cool weather, I planted this late to fill new areas and overseed existing areas, and this seed germinated in about 10 days and filled in nicely over the first few weeks. It's really good!.
The majority of the grass is tall fescue. This is by far the worst Scotts product I've ever encountered. They should be embarrassed to put their name on it, to tell you the truth. First and foremost, I thought the germination (or vigor) was lacking. But it was the varieties in the blend that I disliked the most. Tall fescue was the only thing that germinated. It resembles a weed from the outside. I'm going to discard this repaired patch and replace it with one of Scott's better mixes, such as the Sun and Shade mix.
