I'm not sure about Florida, but it grows beautifully in Kansas, where it's hot and humid! I've tried a lot of Scott's grass seeds and this one is by far the most effective!! You don't need to water it frequently, or you'll have to mow it frequently! With all of their trampling and running around, it grew even more! I have three children and three large dogs, and it still grew! This product comes highly recommended from me!!
I've done it before, and it's worked well in Williamsburg.
Idk. I'm in North Florida, and it worked perfectly for me.
In South Texas, it was effective.

Maybe I did something wrong, or it's just not the right time of year, but I had high hopes for this and it turned out to be a disappointment. I prepared the soil, rolled it in, and watered it regularly, and some grass sprouted, but not a lot. I had previously experimented with cheap seed from a feed store, but the results were hit or miss (basically all or nothing), so I decided to try the more expensive stuff. I have a large patch in the backyard that is now covered in grass from the cheap seed (after the first bag of cheap seed failed to germinate) and a patch in the front yard that has some pathetic tufts after three weeks from the more expensive seed. I'm guessing that no matter what brand or type of grass I buy, I'll have a 50/50 chance of getting it right. There's a 50/50 chance it'll come up.
Scott's products have always worked out well for me. Follow the directions, add the starter fertilizer, and keep watering, watering, watering. I combine this with Kentucky Bluegrass Mix to combine a fast and slow germination seed for a better chance of getting the Bluegrass to grow. We had sod installed last year when we built our house (not very well, lots of gaps and bad pieces), and we're combining it with the other seed to re-seed. seed for the spring season Rye- The bluegrass is starting to emerge now that the grass has grown in. As you can see in the photo, all of the gaps have vanished, and the lawn now appears to be lush and green! Always inspect the seeds for freshness. br>br> I make a conscious effort to only use ones that are brand new and have not been re-packaged. I've been tagged before, but I've never had a problem re-tagging. Those who have been tagged.
I've tried all of Scott's cool-season grass seed mixes, and this is by far my favorite; it looks great (see the photo I uploaded, which was taken up close seven weeks after it had established) and germinates quickly if all of the prep work is done. To improve your chances of success, use a starter fertilizer and water your plants regularly for at least three weeks. The only other thing to consider is whether or not the area you're seeding receives adequate sunlight. In partial shade, this will grow, but it will not thrive and eventually thin out. When properly cared for, it thrives in sunny areas.
This grass was purchased to be planted in a bare, shady spot. Soil with a clay content close to that of pottery. To be honest, I didn't think anything could grow there. But I gave it a shot because I had nothing to lose. I planted them for the first time in August, when the weather was still very hot. It increased in size a little bit - I was watering it religiously every day, and it was fine until my "helpful" neighbor dug up what he thought were weeds, causing it to become patchy once more. In late October, I decided to plant some more. This section of the lawn now looks fantastic, almost as if it were a plush carpet. During the winter, it was green. In comparison to our neighbors, we have a huge disparity. Now I'm on my way to get a third bag to take care of the rest of the yard.
New expiration stickers had been placed over old expiration stickers from early 2015 in both bags. I didn't think much of it at the time, but I began planting seeds the day I received them. I've followed all of the instructions for watering, but the grass is still not growing. I was dissatisfied with the product's lack of functionality.
I also added a shade sun mix from the same brand to ensure that the grass survived. I have a German Shepherd. They're all over it because it's a small dog. It's still going strong! Now all I have to do is fill in a hole that they dug! Lol.
This spring only about 20 of it germinated. I raked the area and applied a 1/4-inch layer of topsoil over the grass seed. It'll have to be redone from the ground up. Because the birds will eat any plain grass seed they find, I was hoping that this treated seed would do better.
For the past two weeks, I have not seen a single blade of grass.
