Questions & Answers

Is it possible to grow this in direct sunlight outside? If not, could you please recommend a good cat-friendly grass to grow in those conditions?

It is not a problem for me. This grows well in full sun; I plant my seeds in an 8-inch-long container with organic soil; I plant the seeds shallowly, cover them with a 1/2-inch of soil, and then soak them thoroughly; within a few days, they are sprouting; I water when the soil becomes dry, and try to keep it moist;

Is there a non-genetically modified version available? I've looked everywhere and can't seem to locate one! ?

Look for anything that isn't labeled as non-gmo.

Also, what are some other cat grass seeds that are popular among felines? thanks?

I've grown Wheat Grass for my cats before, but they also enjoy Barley, Oats, and other grains. Rye Grasses are a type of grass that is native to the United States. All of these grasses are sold as "Cat" grass, which is a mixture of all of them.

Astouding is a word that can be used to describe someone who is assert Out of four cat grasses sold by the same vendor, this one has the best growth
5/5

This vendor sold me four different kinds of cat grasses. They were all done at the same time, in the same manner, and with the same soil mix. After soaking in room temperature water for 24 hours, a sample was frozen overnight. after which it was spread over the soil mixture and lightly covered with about 2 cm of soil. I've attached two photos of the grass that was reviewed (Wheat), as well as two photos of all of the grasses in their individual containers (wheat, 2 x rye, barley, and oats). To see if it made a difference, the same rye sample was planted in two different containers. This was not the case - This eliminates any differences caused by containers. br>br>This is about a week's worth of growth. Because they were all planted at the same density, the differences in pattern aren't due to the fact that one was planted more densely than the others. The wheat is incredible - There are no bare patches anywhere in the growing area. The oat grass is the driest and weakest of the grasses. Outside, animals appear to be drawn to the barley seed, which causes them to dig holes in the mixture as well as climb into the container and mat down the grass. The vigor of the wheat and oat crops is balanced by the rye grass. Because all of the containers were grown in the same area, the grass itself is the only reason why animals would prefer to dig up and sit on one container while ignoring the other four. br>br>All reviews will have the same text, but the stars will be different. Photos of a specific grass will be attached to only that review, but photos of all four varieties will be included in all. br>br>There is no flavor feedback because I haven't tried them yet, and the grass is still too new for my cats to be comfortable with. They both prefer to eat the regular grass on my lawn, despite their curiosity and sniffing at it. All of these grasses, however, have reached the point where cats can consume them. All four varieties are excellent, with the wheat in my order being particularly outstanding. For each, I purchased the largest quantities available, which were 10 pounds of barley, oats, and wheat, as well as 5 pounds of rye. If you're looking for specific images of a Thunder Acres variety, look up the other Thunder Acres varieties.

Our two kitties' greens cravings are satisfied for about a year with one pack
5/5

100% germnation This was purchased so that I could grow greens in a sunny south-facing location. Our two indoor cats enjoy their daily "greens" on the south-facing window sill. I purchase unfertilized potting soil mix (I switched from an organic potting soil mix after discovering white fungus growing on top of the mix- Possibly due to the presence of earthworm castings in the mixture - I didn't want my cats to eat fungus, so I avoided it. ) and have three Goodwill-purchased coffee mugs. For each serving, I use about a teaspoon of seed. I start one on a sunny south-facing window sill, and as soon as it sprouts, I start seeds in another to ensure a steady supply. 100% germination from this vendor last pack of seeds that lasted me almost a year for two kitties - 4 - Make sure there is enough grass for them to eat. They continue to grow for up to a week after the first "tasting" if I keep them moist. I don't let my cats graze on the grass unattended - My father and his wife grew a large planter in their sunroom years ago, and one of their cats had to have surgery to remove a large mass of undigested grass - just an hors d'oeuvres before their main din, and then I remove and hide. He developed an addiction and was unable to break free.

They're fine to grow, but my cat prefers oat grass
3/5

Update: The grass became softer and more like grass after I placed it on the dashboard of my car. Perhaps it stiffens up when exposed to artificial light, resembling the leaves of a large pine tree. There is no flat part of the leaf under artificial lighting; instead, it resembles a skew stick and grows longer. Perhaps I'm placing the grass too close to the artificial light source. However, the other seeds (oats) grew in the same conditions and did not turn into stiff sticks. Oh, and the most important thing to mention is that my cat is currently eating it - in the needle-free zone- He still prefers oats, though, because it was once like a leaf with a float part. He's an odd cat who eats only certain things. He purrs while eating oat grass, but he hesitates before eating wheat grass, and he consumes significantly less wheat grass than oat grass. br>br>Follow this link to the original review: I'm an expert at growing grass. My cat eats a different brand of oat grass, but he won't eat grass grown with this product because it's stiff, coarse, and fibrous. My cat sniffs it and chews on it, but he doesn't eat it. That's odd. I guess I'll just have to eat oats from now on. In addition, I provide cat with ready-to-use items. Wheat grass, which can be found in health food stores, should be used. My cat has preferences for the type of grass she eats. He is a big fan of oats. He's a picky eater to say the least. br>However, I believe this product has a high rate of germination. I believe it is dependent on one's previous grass-growing experience. I went through some trial and error stages before settling on this: Soak the seeds for an hour, drain them, wrap them in a wet paper towel, and place them in a container with a loose cover over them and keep them in a dark place for a few days, then place them on a wet cray pebble with water only at the bottom part and keep them for a few days, then remove the cover and place them under the artificial sunlight set to 10 hours of light per day.

Patience is a virtue, as is good planning
4/5

I had some bare spots in my postage stamp of a lawn for some reason, and my cat loves to eat grass, so why not plant some that he can eat, i. e. , he isn't going to throw up again. within the confines of my house? I had previously had success with this grass seed, so I decided to give it another shot. However, I didn't realize I had an aerator until after I'd planted the seed and covered it with soil (no, I don't have a green thumb!). I planted the day before rain was forecast, with sun forecast for the next day or so. Somewhere in there, I let out a sigh of relief. Birds and squirrels appeared to be digging and eating something in that area, as well. I didn't have high hopes. My fears turned out to be unfounded, because the baby grass began to grow a few weeks later, just like a crew cut!.
