In only 5 days, the seeds germinate
5/5

Despite some negative reviews, I purchased this Black Beauty (original) and wanted to give it a try for my back yard where 99% of grass is dead (a new lawn installed in Sep 2017 only by lawn% Seeded on Saturday evening (Sept 15, 2018) and germinated at about a quarter-inch height on Thursday morning (Sept 20, 2018). The percentage of seeds that germinate appears to be quite high. Here's a quick rundown of what's going on. I'm completely inexperienced when it comes to gardening and lawn care. I hope this information will be useful to anyone looking to repair their lawn with the same or similar products. 1. br>br> Location: Lansing, Michigan (Zone 5B) is a city in the state of Michigan.
2. Scarified (-) and removed dead grass. 10mm) of soil with a lawn de-thatcher. On September 14, 2018, thatcher a day before reseeding.
3. Scott's hand-held electric seed spreader (settings 5 and 3/4) was used to spread the grass seeds.
4. Cover the seeds with lawn soil and peat moss after they've been spread out. I experimented with both at first and discovered that peat moss can cover about 5 times the area of lawn soil, so I chose peat moss for the remainder of the lawn. I also experimented with two different types of peat moss. Lowes sells a 3 cubic foot package of Peat Moss (made in Canada), but because it is compressed, it can expand to about 6 cubic feet once unpacked. packaged. I liked this brand, and I didn't pay attention to the thickness of the peat moss when I applied it, but I believe it was about a quarter inch thick until the seeds could no longer be seen. Because I was afraid of choking the seeds, I didn't use too much peat moss.
5. On Saturday evening, after applying peat moss and lawn soil, I watered for an hour. After that, I watered twice a day, once at 9 a. m. and again at 3 p. m. , for 30 minutes each time.
6. From Seeding (Sep 15, 2018) to Germinating (Sep 20, 2018), the temperature remained consistent at around 60 degrees Fahrenheit at the lowest and 89 degrees Fahrenheit at the highest, with sunny and hot weather from Sep 15 to Sep 18. On the 19th and 20th of September, there will be thunderstorms and cloudy conditions.
7. From sunrise to sunset, the sun shines on the lawn that I recently repaired in my backyard. That appears to be the reason why 99% of grass died this summer. br>br>I sincerely hope that my meager experience will be of use to you. br>br>On October 14, 2018, I uploaded photos to keep you up to date on the lawn's progress.

The neighborhood is buzzing with excitement
5/5

So I'm going to give this product a review, and all I have to say is that I'm speechless. I planted on May 4th, and as of today, May 19th, I have the best lawn I've ever seen. This stuff is incredible on a whole new level. My neighbors have inquired as to what I did, and the answer is fairly straightforward. PUT EFFORT INTO WHAT YOU WANT TO ACCOMPLISH. This grass seed is well worth the money and then some. This stuff took off like wildfire in Northern Virginia; it took two weeks for it to be amazing, and my back yard now looks the same.

I'm not happy
3/5

I liked the color and followed the instructions to the letter, which included using starter fertilizer. The grass grew in beautifully, lush, green, and carpet-like. I, for example, waited until the grass was about 4 - 5 inches tall before cutting it. 1/2. inches prior to cutting I was overjoyed at first, but soon became dissatisfied. Even after watering and doing everything I could think of, they all died very quickly as soon as the weather became hot. I planted it in my front yard, which receives a lot of sun, in a completely dug up, tilled, and raked area, as well as in the back yard, which receives less sun, but both received the same aftershock, even in areas where I only needed to fill in. This is the most I've ever paid for grass seed, and I'll be stuck with an unsightly lawn for the rest of the summer. It's not a pleasant sensation, especially when you have lovely flowers but an unsightly lawn. Very sad.

What I got is a mystery to me
3/5

Today, I got my package. It is something I have yet to try. On the side of the bag, it simply said grass seed, and on the front, there was a large sticker that said black beauty. I have no idea what's inside because there's no seed analysis on the bag, and it doesn't look like the black beauty bag in the photo or on the website; instead, it looks like pasture seed, which I obviously don't want. Not wasting time and resources on something that isn't certain.

It's coming along nicely

Almost every seed germinates at some point. br>We have the worst lawn in the neighborhood. In the summer, it is extremely dry (rock hard, bone dry). br> In the fall, however, it is very wet. spring (stagnant water, squishy) as if you were walking through a swamp). br>This is the third time we've replanted our lawn, which always looks great during the rainy season before burning to a crisp in the summer, never to be seen again. br>So it's about to happen. Now it's looking great- The REAL test, however, will take place next summer. br>STAY TUNED for an update.

The germination and color of these plants are incredible
5/5

The best grass seed that has ever existed! Despite the fact that I have horrible clay soil that has been heavily compacted, this seed germinated on day 5! Today is day 6, and all of my bare spots on a 2500 sqft strip have turned green in the last 24 hours! br>br>Amazing color and germination. br>br>Update: after 3 weeks, I stopped watering it, and it turned into a slushy green carpet. br>My wife is furious because it is such a vibrant green that it makes the older part of the lawn look dreadful. This grass seed is of the highest quality.

This seed was planted in the fall and did not thrive on the east coast
4/5

I was expecting a lot. In the spring, it blossomed into a force to be reckoned with. Every one of my neighbors complimented me. It died, however, as soon as the temperature climbed into the 80s. I have an inground sprinkler system and a lawn care company that fertilizes my lawn. Update- In the fall, the grass came back in a big way. Due to a severe draught, everything became burnt and brown. However, it returned as thick, lush green grass. It's got to be the deep roots. br>br>Tip: if you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, try using the words " Buy two 50-pound bags instead of one 50-pound bag. 25 pound bags are available. You'll be able to save some money. br>br>I'm from Chesapeake, Virginia. Suffolk and Virginia Beach are two of the most popular beach destinations in the United States.

The seed was never able to germinate
3/5

Scott's Turf Builder Sun is what I use most of the time. Shade Mix has always produced good yields for me. This spring, however, I had hoped to up our yard game a notch and lay down something that would yield better results. We live in a zone 5 home with clay-based soil. So I needed something that could withstand Midwest temperature swings as well as less-than-ideal soil conditions. After doing some research, I discovered that this product has excellent reviews and claims to thrive in both full and partial sunlight. It is also said to thrive in clay or sand-based soils. We de- top-heavy thatch Before seeding, we sprayed our yard with a 1/8" mixture of compost and topsoil. Water has been given to the new seed on a regular basis. Despite the fact that we have had little to no germination of this product after 15 days, I would not recommend it.
