Questions & Answers

A converter is a device that allows you to convert one type of data into another type of The booklet only boasts about the use/care of the product. ?

When you want to use ink from an ink pot/well, you put the converter in the pen like a cartridge, squeeze it, and slowly release it, allowing the ink to suck up through the nib and into the converter. Fountain pens and cartridges are all different, and the way they're loaded differs as well. This one requires you to insert the cartridge's fat end into the pen (obviously after unscrewing it from the barrel) and firmly push it in. You'll notice that it's being "punctured." The barrel should then be screwed back on.

This is the first time I've used a pen like this. I'm wondering if the nib on this pen can be replaced. ?

Some of the responses are a little strange. Nibs for Pilot fountain pens cannot be replaced by non-pilot fountain pen nibs. They don't sell the nibs separately because they're pilot nibs. The nib on this pen, however, can easily be swapped out for nibs from other Metropolitans, as well as nibs from the Pilot Penmanship, Prera, Plumix, Kakuno, or 78g. Some fountain pen brands use generic nibs, but Pilot nibs are shaped to fit into a slot on the feed and aren't quite the same shape as other similar-looking nibs. nibs of various sizes You might be able to get a different 5 nib in there with a lot of tinkering, though.

Is it possible to replace just the nib if you want to change the width or if it becomes damaged?

Pilot does not sell nibs on their own. The WingSung 698/659 nib, which is available on Ebay, is the Chinese nib the other person was referring to. They're a tad thinner than the original Pilot nib, but they're still quite good. I've heard they won't work without the WingSung feed, but I haven't tried it yet. You can also use a variety of other steel-based nibs. Pilot pens with nibs, such as the Penmanship, Kakuno, Plumix, 78G, and Prera.

Not my favorite, but I have to admit that the Pilot Metropolitan is the most overrated "cheap" fountain pen available
3/5

It was my first experience with fountain pens a few years ago, and I had no regrets selling that first one. I took a chance on this one, thinking it might be because of the nib size (I used to have a fine, but now prefer a medium). The orange flower design on the barrel appealed to me, and the pen itself is attractive. I inked it once and then cleaned, dried, and put it back in the box when the cartridge was empty. If you're looking for a starter fountain pen, I'd recommend a TWSBI. Their nibs are much smoother right out of the box, and unlike this Metro and my Lamys, I've never had a hard start with a TWSBI pen. If you really want to stick with the Pilot family and have the money, get a Vanishing Point or a Decimo, which are still very simple to use with cartridges even for a beginner.

Fountain pens of the highest quality I've recently become obsessed with fountain pens and have purchased five of them
5/5

This is my favorite, so I'm ordering another one. I received the fine tip, which is ideal for writing. It's smooth and easy to use, without being scratchy. The other varieties I tried were too wet and sloppy to use. In my hand, it feels just right and balanced, with the perfect weight. It has a comfortable grip that is neither too slick nor too small for my liking. While I'm writing, the cap fits snugly around the pen. There isn't a single flaw in it that I can see. Excellent value for money.

For the price, it's an absolute steal! I bought it to test shimmering inks like Emerald of Chivor (which is a stunning ink by the way) without worrying about damaging my more expensive pens
5/5

However, I fell in love with it and it quickly became a go-to pen for me. This is a great option for anyone looking for a fountain pen that is a step up from the Varsity series but isn't too pricey to worry about breaking.

It's the right time to make a decision
5/5

I've been on a fountain pen kick for the past week or so. I've bought a lot of pens, and this one in particular is the best; I got it today and have been using it since then. It hasn't skipped or bled through the paper to this point. I'm not sure how long this will last, but I have to say that for the time being, it's the best fountain pen I've ever used. This pen is of excellent quality and is offered at a reasonable price.

This is an amazing pen
5/5

Lefties will enjoy it. This pen is one of my favorites. br>My first fountain pen was a Lamy Safari, which worked fine but was a little scratchy. br>This pen writes as smoothly as butter and applies ink to the page with a nice, wet application. This is the pen I wish I had bought first!br>As a lefty, this pen is fantastic. It includes one black ink cartridge as well as a squeeze converter. br>The converter isn't perfect, but it gets the job done, and it's completely free! br>br>I'm writing with Noodler's Antietam, which is fantastic! br>br>The medium point nib has a writing speed of around. In my experience, 7mm is the minimum thickness, though this varies depending on the texture and quality of the paper.

Great pen for the money
5/5

This pen writes like a much more expensive fountain pen and can be used with both cartridges and ink, thanks to the included converter. It's difficult to find a fountain pen that isn't too expensive but still writes well for those of us who prefer to write with them. This one is a good fit for that. It has a nice heft to it but isn't too heavy. It has a pleasant grip and a smooth writing nib (which I prefer). I've bought a few of these in the last few years, and they've all performed admirably. If you choose the red one, keep in mind that it will take longer to arrive. It's important to note that it's actually more of an orange color - It should have been more of a true red, in my opinion. The pilot cartridges for this pen are also excellent, and I've never had a problem with leakage with any of them.

This is a low-cost pen that feels twice as expensive! This is my first metal fountain pen, having previously used a few plastic fountain pens and nib holders
5/5

The experience is completely different; it's so smooth that there's no need to apply any pressure to begin writing, unlike with a ball-point pen. pens with sharp points If you leave the cap on, the weight is a little top heavy, but without it, it has a nice solid feel to it. The brushed aluminum shimmers slightly in the light and has a very elegant appearance. This is a fantastic, low-cost present. It includes a single ink cartridge. Because the converter comes pre-installed in the pen, you'll need to remove it before installing the cartridge. The black ink that comes with it is a nice touch. I'd say it took about 6 hours to dry completely. Only seven seconds have passed. Because of the fine nib, you can write in very small spaces. For a visual reference, see the photos attached. The Clairefontaine notebook was used for the demo writing.

Amazing! This is my first fountain pen that isn't on the cheap side
5/5

It appeals to me greatly. It'll be well worth your time and effort. The pen is absolutely stunning in its own right. It has a pleasant sheen that isn't overly shiny and is somewhere between true red and scarlet. It's both entertaining and useful. The writing, which is so smooth, is my favorite part. There is no need for any kind of pressure. It glides across the page with such fluid ease. It's a real pleasure to work with you. As a starter pen, I would strongly suggest this. Without the price tag, you get high quality! To get you started, it comes in a nice gift box with a rubber tweezer ink converter and one ink cartridge. You will not be disappointed if you purchase this beautiful fountain pen.
