This is how I go about doing things - > https: //www. youtube. com/view? smUqQZF7VkY v=smUqQZF7VkY Because I don't have the fancy Lamy ink thingy, I use a paper towel! I submerge the entire nib in the ink bottle until it is below the ink level, then draw ink into the converter, push the ink out while the nib is still submerged, and draw ink into the converter again. Bubbles are avoided as a result of this method. Best of luck!
Instead of using pre-filled cartridges, this converter is used to provide the pen with an internal resevoir. You can use bottled ink in any color you want, whether it's blue, black, purple, or green, to fill expensive cartidges. Go for it if it's in a bottle.

A quick summary: I wish it held more ink and didn't have a red end, but it gets the job done. br>br>Long critique: I purchased this converter for the same reasons as the rest of you. To save money by using fountain pen inks from ink bottles. The converter fits perfectly into my Lamy Safari, as it was designed to do. The ink capacity is limited, and filling it from an ink jar or pot is difficult. It's much easier to fill it all the way with a syringe, in my experience. If you don't, you'll have to contend with an obnoxious bubble that takes up 1/4 of the available space. My problem with the red end is purely aesthetic in nature. It doesn't match my pen, but I suppose that's irrelevant because you can't see that part when it's inside your pen. I like how clear the viewing window is, and staining hasn't been an issue for me. Cleaning is simple enough; when I want to change colors, I squirt water into it with an ink syringe. For comparison, I photographed it next to an empty disposable cartridge, which I believe holds less ink. That's a little lame, but if I want to save the world from my share of plastic disposable cartridges filling landfills, I'll have to make do with this guy.
There isn't enough suction to draw a liquid with the viscosity of Lamy crystal ink into the converter cartridge's body. My copy came in a clear zippered plastic bag, as well. This isn't how Lamy converters are usually packaged. It makes me wonder if my copy was a fake. Is this an issue with Lamy products? I'm not sure what I'm saying. My only regret is that I did not test it in water first to ensure that it worked before dipping it into my ink and wasting some on it. Amazon promptly granted my request for a refund, which I promptly received. br>br>Instructions: br>br>Instructions: br>br>Ins Only purchase this Z28 Lamy converter from Amazon if it is in stock. So if yours doesn't work properly, you can get a refund. Lamy products are ready to use right away. Period.
I did an Amazon search and came across this useful resource. This is a really cool little gadget. It's simple to work with. You simply screw the orange part of the top into the plastic cylindrical chamber, and ink is drawn into it. The screw is full when it can no longer go any further. If you don't use your pen every day, I recommend emptying the ink and rinsing the nib as well. I frequently lose track of my pen and leave it unattended for days. (Actually, writing this reminded me to check on it, and it was dry and in need of cleaning. ) This is fantastic. easy- Simply turn the orange thing to expel the ink, then draw water up into the clear cylinder and repeat the process. While you're rinsing your nib, place it on a paper towel to dry. br>br>To go with it, I ordered black Lamy German ink. The converter fits perfectly in the inkwell, which has a nice, wide top. The ink is a nice, deep black color. Both of these products come highly recommended!.
This converter allows me to select the type of ink I want to use when writing. I needed waterproof ink because I use watercolors in my journal, and the ink that comes in the Lamy cartridges is not waterproof. br>br>At first, the converter didn't fill properly, with bubbles forming on the top, so I emptied and refilled it until it was completely full. I have had no problems with it since then. Is it possible that there is a learning curve involved? I'm not sure what I'm saying. br>br>Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase, which arrived ahead of schedule. It comes highly recommended from me! It's the perfect size for my Lamy Safari fountain pen.
I bought it as a last resort in the hopes of being able to write consistently with a Lamy Al Star that I had recently purchased. It was a complete failure. br>br>The pen writes well, but it dries out after a few pages, requiring me to open it and reinstall the ink converter. I thoroughly cleaned the pen, as well as the previous converter, and noticed that the converter was clogged. I bought this as a last resort after cleaning failed to solve the problem. Regrettably, the issue has not been resolved. br>br>I'm not sure if the converter is to blame, but the fact that the ink level doesn't drop even after a lot of writing leads me to believe that the converter isn't letting air in. br>br>My TWSBI Eco and Pilot Metropolitan, on the other hand, write very smoothly and consistently.
Disposable cartridges can be replaced with this product. Fits Lamy pens exactly as it should. Use your own inks to save money and reduce waste. br>br>To be honest, I find it easier to fill disposable cartridges with a syringe. They can also hold a greater amount of ink. br>br>When it comes to cleaning the pen, these converters shine. Water can be drawn into the pen and then ejected using the converter. Cleaning the nib with a bulb is much more difficult for me.
If you plan to use bottled ink, it's well worth it. Get this converter instead of messing around with used cartridges. It's what I use in my Lamy Safari, and I'm quite pleased with it. It absorbs so much ink that it nearly fills the converter's entire capacity. There's always a teeny-tiny bit of open space with air in it. It's more than an air bubble, but not to the point where you'll run out of ink. I'm just a little anal and can't stand any empty space in the converter, but it's not a big deal. Cartridges will increase your ink capacity, but not to the point where you'll notice a significant difference. The converter performs admirably and in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications. Use bottled ink in conjunction with a converter to save money. Get rid of those boring cartridges that don't come in a variety of colors.
