Questions & Answers

Is a converter included with this pen, or will I have to purchase one separately?

Yes, it comes with a bladder-style converter that served me well for over a year before I stopped using it. Consider the Con40 convertor if you're looking for something that's easier to use and holds more ink.

What is the duration of the cartage?

It all depends on the paper, ink, and nib you're using. br>br>Fine nibs use less ink than Medium nibs, and cheap paper absorbs more ink. The Pilot cheap Standard inks, blue, blue/black, and blue are not wet inks, meaning they do not flow on excessively, are smooth, and have good bleed resistance even on cheaper paper. There is no heavy ghosting. If you're printing with cartridges, you'll be using Pilot ink. I find that the cartridges last a long time.br>br>Alternatively, you can go with the Explorer, which has the same nibs but is made of resin. It's made of plastic, and it's as light as the old celluloid 1930 pens. It also accepts the Pilot 70 converter, which holds a whopping 1 ml of ink. Personally, I prefer the Explorer to the Metropolitan because the shape is more comfortable, and heavy metal pens can be exhausting to write with over time, such as in class notes. If you use a converter, you can use inks from other manufacturers, but be aware that ink flow, ink use, water resistance, bleed through, ghosting, and feathering will differ from one ink to the next. Trying out different inks is a popular pastime for many people. br>br>If you don't want your fountain pen writing to be personalized, the Metropolitan or Explorer with Pilot cartridges will suffice. br>br>However, if you use a converter, your ink costs will be cut in half.

For the purposes of engraving, I'd like to know if this is a plastic or metal pen. ?

The Metropolitan, which is a torpedo-style pen with a metal barrel and cap, and the Explorer, which has the same nib, is resin aka plastic, can use the 70 converter, has a very modern style, and is very lightweight like the cellulite pre-WWII pens, both use the same nib. I doubt you'd want the Explorer engraved. I believe you could do so at the Metropolitan.

Every flourish is exquisite
5/5

I'm a shameless pen geek, and it would be a sin of omission if I didn't extol the many virtues of the Pilot Metropolitan Collection fine nib fountain pen. br>I've been carrying this pen around with me for a month, writing as much as I could throughout the day. I started with the black ink cartridge that came with the pen, and I wrote like crazy - Probably a lot of the time unnecessarily - I needed to use it up so I could refill the squeeze converter with Noodler's Blue, which I prefer. Because I make my living as a reporter and journalist, you can imagine my surprise (and, eventually, consternation) at how long that single black cartridge lasted. I would have been in heaven if I had loved black ink! br>However, the cartridge ran out of ink yesterday, and the pen is now filled with Noodler's Blue. This is Nirvana in the sense that it is Nirvana in the sense that it is Nirvana in the sense that it I'm not sure how else to describe the sensation of my own blood coursing through my veins as blue line after blue line appears on my fine paper with this extraordinary pen. Please excuse my language (or don't), but this is on par with the excitement of a blossoming romance culminating in the creation of the beast with two backs! I am ecstatic, and I have previously paid significantly more for fountain pens. br>I also adore my Lamy and Waterman pens. They have a good reputation. Although well-made and well-worth the money, there are a few minor flaws in the quality of writing they produce when compared to this pen. br>From the perspective of a collector, the other pens have sentimental value because they are the best pens of their eras. However, we've entered a new epoch - I firmly believe in the Pilot Metropolitan Collection, as well as the Pilot Metropolitan Collection - is a goal that has long been aspired to by all previous efforts. br>I credit technology and engineering for a large part of this. And then there's the matter of style and fashion. br>The writing is natural, with a perfectly appropriate audible scratchiness on the right kind of paper, and my signature absolutely rocks while using this pen, unlike the other pens I adore that were crafted in decades past. br>The writing is natural, with a perfectly suitable audible scratchiness on the right kind of paper, and my signature absolutely rocks while using this pen. br>You might wonder how it's so cheap. br>Technology is a term that has a lot of different meanings depending on who you ask Science. This is how you do it: art.

The best fountain pen for the money This is the best fountain pen for the money; the fit and finish are excellent, and it looks and feels like a precision writing instrument
5/5

When using Pilot ink, the nib is smooth and glides across the paper effortlessly. The cap is securely attached to the pen. I've never let it go during a regular writing session. Due to the weight of the cap, posting causes the pen's balance to shift. Unless you have very large hands, you can easily write with the cap unposted. br>br>For cleaning, the Metropolitan's body, section, feed, and nib disassemble. Some pens have a fixed section and feed that needs to be flushed with ink using a bulb syringe. br>br>I've added other pens to my collection, but when it comes to writing quality and fit and finish, I always compare them to the Pilot Metropolitan. This pen is a fantastic first fountain pen and a worthy addition to your writing collection. br>br>There are a few disadvantages to this pen.
- It is more substantial than most plastic pens. The Metropolitan has a brass body and a brass cap. The pen's balance is shifted to the back when the cap is posted. Writing with the cap unposted is the solution.
- It's got a snap cap on it. That may or may not be a disadvantage to you, but I prefer screw-on caps. The act of unscrewing the cap of a fountain pen adds to the enjoyment of using these pens.
- There are two different sizes of writing nib: Fine and medium in Japanese (equivalent to extra fine and fine in European terminology). The nib is in excellent condition. When using Pilot ink, it behaved well, but when using other inks, it can be scratchy. Pilot ink is the best ink for lubricating the finer points of their nibs. Please do yourself a favor and place an order.

The pen is fantastic! It writes without stuttering and without leaking! I don't know how I've gone this long without reviewing my Pilot Silver Fountain Pen
5/5

This pen is fantastic! This pen has a fine nib and is silver. br>br>Overall, I would strongly advise you to purchase this pen. The pen comes with a convenient carrying case as well as detailed instructions on how to use and refill the ink. Both the pen and the instructions fit inside the case, which is handy in case I forget how to do something. br>br>The pen's initial ink cartridge is fine, and it's filled with good Pilot ink. After that dried, I refilled the pen with Noodler's Bulletproof black ink and used the included converter to do so. br>br>I've used this pen for a long time and have had no problems with it. I haven't had a single leak from the line, which is smooth and consistent. br>br>I'll definitely be buying more of these pens and using Noodler's ink with them - one for each of the colors I use in my meticulously color-coordinated wardrobe. notes that have been coded br>br>Once again, I would strongly advise anyone to purchase this pen! It's better for the environment because you only have to refill one pen rather than throwing away every clicky top when it runs out. The smoothness of the writing experience is far superior to that of a standard ballpoint pen. It's impossible to beat this price - It's wonderful to have a fountain pen that isn't too expensive. Finally, writing with a good fountain pen makes you look pretty snazzy.

It has never worked before
3/5

I had high hopes for this pen, but I've never been able to use it. Because I'd never done it before, my father (who has used these pens his entire life) installed the ink cartridge. Unfortunately, despite his expertise, he was unable to make this pen work. It appears to be backed up (?). ) and the ink in the pen tip will not come out. Only the sides (and straight onto our hands) will let ink out of the pen. Purchase was a huge letdown.
