These are extremely well constructed. Even if I leave it uncapped in between notes, it doesn't dry out. This one was washed twice in a pocket and, surprisingly, did not open and become an ink bomb. (There was ink on the cap but not on the clothes. ) It's light in the hand, doesn't roll away as easily as meteos, and doesn't break even when dropped. It's not as pretty as some FPs, but it'll get the job done.
Edit: If you like to clip it to a lanyard, one disadvantage I've discovered is that the barrel has a tendency to unscrew from the section. I was devastated when I misplaced the bottom!.
As a left-handed person, I dislike how you are essentially forced to hold the pen. I purchased this pen because it appears to have a lot of positive feedback. Perhaps it wasn't for the sake of a fine point. I found the point to be scratchy, and it wrote well, but the ink flow was poor, as it skipped more than I liked. I'm also having trouble removing the nib from the pen. I polished the nib with green chrome polishing rouge after sanding it with 4000 grit sandpaper. It now writes a little smoother and the ink flow is better after quite a bit of work, but it's still not quite smooth enough for me. However, given the price, I can't say the pen is bad; perhaps mine was simply defective. I intend to purchase another one with a medium or stub nib, or if the nib can be removed, I will simply purchase a new nib.
I don't know if LAMY tests their pens prior to packaging. Every penny I purchased from this company was packaged in a simple manner. This particular pen is red, and I intended to use it only with red ink. I do a lot of writing and only use this brand. When I first got the pen, it appeared to have been used, and when I ran red ink through it, the color that came out of the nib was either black or blue. Just let me know that the pen had been dipped in another color of ink. Aside from that, it performed exactly as I had anticipated.
After having problems with two Pilot metropolitans, I decided to try Lamy Safari instead. It's a smooth writer with no ink leakage, which is an added bonus. My Metropolitan pens were constantly leaking, which irritated me. This pen also has a finer nib, which I prefer. If you're new to fountain pens, you'll hear Pilot and Lamy Safari mentioned as good starter pens. I might have gotten some Pilot swag, but trust me when I say that Lamy is the way to go.
For over a decade, I used my trusty Lamy. It was $7 for mine. In 2007 or 2008, I will be 50 years old (possibly). It was finally put to rest by my two-year-old son. year old. In the sense that the nib does not bleed into the cap, the replacement is actually superior. Writing notes with a fountain pen simply feels better to me. In my opinion, it offers the best value for money when it comes to a good fountain pen. If you like to experiment with different ink colors, the inkwell accessory is well worth it. It's simply a fantastic deal.
Fountain pens have the potential to drive people insane. My personal collection is quite extensive. However, I continue to use the low-cost Lamy Safari pen on a regular basis. It offers excellent value for money and is an excellent "starter" pen for someone new to fountain pens. The Lamy Safari, however, continues to entice even the most seasoned traveler. It's a classic that will never go out of style.
The pen writes very well, and the name is fine, so it writes a perfectly acceptable line width on most of the cheap paper available these days. It's cheap, so if you lose it, you won't be disappointed. Although it isn't my favorite pen, it is unquestionably the most useful for everyday use.
Today, I got my pen. It has an unusual appearance, and I bought it after hearing good things about it on podcasts. The pen isn't particularly appealing, but I believe this is due to some designers' "function over form" mentality. The grip has an odd feel to it, but it does a good job of keeping the nib aligned for the best writing, and it writes well. I would have given it five stars if I liked the looks more.
