It works well but has a foul odor

I immediately opened the package and began work on a craft project. The package was secure, and the twine was of excellent quality and sturdiness, but after 10 minutes, I noticed there was a distinct odor to it, which was subtle but powerful. After soaking it in soap, water, and vinegar for a day, it still smelled like it did before. I've decided to toss it out and start over, but I'll keep buying twine from a different supplier.
