Please be aware The computer does not come with an Ethernet cable or USB cable
4/5

Installing this printer just took a few minutes. A wireless router is connected to my PC via an Ethernet cable, so I would also need to connect my printer to the wireless router via Ethernet. Due to the lack of an Ethernet cable, this printer does not come with one. A direct connection can also be achieved with a USB A to USB B cable, but this doesn't come with the device. Does it make sense for someone who does not believe in God Is the WiFi printer going to come with NONE of the cable connections necessary for the Since I had a spare Ethernet cable lying around, I had no problems using it, but if you buy it, be sure to order the cables you need, too, since Canon did not include them. It seems illogical to me, but what the heck. It's possible I didn't notice any other method of connection, but I can guarantee this printer does not include either of those

There is a telephone cable attached to it. There is nothing Ethernet about this cable. Your printer will not be able to be connected to your router or PC. I wanted to let you know if you are not a network administrator and didn't pick up on that immediately. In terms of printing, I have printed a test page so far. I've tested it, and it The cable issue caused the setup to be difficult however, it was easily resolved I installed the downloaded driver software and the printer was found immediately, and I was able to set it up in a matter of minutes. The actual design of this printer is very smart nothing pokes out too far or requires a lot of clearance, which is great because I keep it under the desk. Peeling off the stickers took longer than it did to install the drivers, so that part was nice. The scanning functions haven't been tested yet but I will as soon as I can and will do so.

3 Stars for not including the connection cables in the box, or at least informing customers beforehand. A NEW UPDATE After you download the MF Scan Utility, you are able to capture images either from the feeder or from the glass. As a matter of fact, everything on this printer works so effortlessly and flawlessly that I have no choice but to review it with four In my opinion, if this product didn't include Ethernet and USB connectors, I would probably give it a 3 star rating, because it is ridiculous not to provide Ethernet and USB connectors. However, for the price, this product is good and I recommend it nonetheless.

A good value, but a bad software setup would have made me give it away
3/5

I bought this from BPS on September 2, 2017 - good value, horrible software setup

I would have given it more stars if it wasn't for the horrible setup. In this case, it was a replacement for an HP M1522nf All-in-One There was one Laser Printer in my office which served me well for at least 10 years. There are several good things to point out Packaging is taken care of, and the printer is compact. Disassembles easily and can be physically set up without much difficulty. I was pleased with the quality of the print.
The bad speed and intuitive control panel.
The good great design and user interface. It was a nightmare to set up the software and install the drivers. This is issue 1 of the quarterly newsletter This command is asking you to be a local administrator (this is a Win 7 Enterprise, SP1), right out of the gate. Although I am a member of the Administrator group, I had to create a Local Computer Admin user and log in using that user. The Canon Tech Support line informed me that it must be a Windows issue, having no clue what the problem was. Google searches led me to the local administrator lead and I found a dozen hits before figuring out what the problem was. The second issue of the journal is available However, I still wasn't able to scan after installing the software (see Canon's support site for details). The MF Scan Utility was separate from the MF Scan Utility, as it turned out. The 3rd issue is now available In order to add the document to Google Cloud Print, follow these steps It's not necessary to use the printer control panel, or to insert your printer IP address into Google settings. Use the app UI for the printer (browse to the assigned IP address so that The printer IP address can be found in m_network_cloudprint, and it can be managed there*Issue Here is a photo for your information. I found a piece of the printer that had broken off while I was unpacking it. Because everything works, I'm not inclined to send back the printer, but it raises the question of whether the printer has other damage that may manifest in the near future. You can expect updates on that soon. Issue 5 of the Journal As for the control panel on the printer (I am talking about the physical panel on the printer itself), it rotates up and down with ease so you can see what you are doing, but you have to hold it with one hand while pressing buttons with another since it does not lock I know that this is a slight annoyance, but it would be nice. Maybe that piece that broke off could be added. In short, the bottom line is Is it a product that I would buy I am inclined to say a qualified yes given that I know the set offs. Time will tell after I have used it a while. It has a decent price, good print quality, and is useful once you get past the setup challenges.

You can't scan a lot with this software, so it makes no sense
3/5

As a replacement for a Canon mf216n that had been expired for a long time, I bought this model. I enjoyed the 216 a lot and the 236 seemed to be Despite the 'new and improved' software's alleged improvements, this product has a major limitation that makes it useless for someone who scans a lot of papers When a scan is run, you cannot specify the file name. The only thing you can do is set the prefix, such as IMG_ or SCAN_, and then the software appends the date to the prefix and you have the file. Are you able to scan 10 or 20 documents at one time? It is better to remember which order you did them in, or have fun opening each one and finding out what it is, then rename it. No matter how you handle it, you are doing it twice. This seems trivial at first, but if you live with it, you realize how important it is. Is it possible for Canon to screw up such a basic part of the If I could go back to the old MF Toolbox software, I would be happy, but it's not to be. It is mandatory that the user experience be improved. I would not recommend it as a small business office tool because it is not suitable for small businesses.

I have connected the printer and it works great now
4/5

A few tweaks and then install the driver software is all that's needed). In addition, this printer is not wireless, as I had assumed. While I would keep it, I must admit it was incredibly frustrating to discover that. Once it is hooked up to the computer, the printer works well, but, lordy, lordy, the documentation is awful. It is apparent the translation is from another language, and is in 1980s style. Even though I consider myself a mildly technical expert, I could not begin to figure things out I just ignored the manual, plugged in the darn printer, and figured things out on my own (with some help from technical This printer, however, seems like it will be useful to me With the savings on HP ink, it will pay for itself within six months, since it will not require you to buy more cartridges.
