After dealing with an HP inkjet fax that kept jamming and leaking ink in my restaurant, I decided I needed a small laser that would fit in the designated space. Except for the fact that it was white and the rest of the equipment in the area was black, this fit the bill. br>Once the unit was unboxed, I covered the black areas and any exposed electronics with masking tape. I was able to make it completely black using a simple flat black spray paint can. Even when I point it out to them, they have no idea it was painted. The first issue has been resolved. br>I've had the unit for about seven months and it's been fantastic. It even uses the same toner as my wireless Brother printer, which is an added bonus. Of course, I've been dealing with the DEEP SLEEP curse that so many people complain about this week. The machine will ring twice and act strangely, but no faxes will be received. Despite Brother's decision to hide the feature, there is a solution after some research and playing around. br>Yes, DEEP SLEEP can be turned off. br>Select General Settings, Ecology, and Sleep Mode from the drop-down menu. When it asks you to change the time before going to bed, press the START and DOWN ARROW buttons at the same time. You'll now have the option to disable DEEP SLEEP mode, which was previously hidden. Disable it and you'll be able to use your fax machine for a long time.
It was all set to use when it arrived. The toner lasted about 3 months when used lightly to moderately. The drum has not yet needed to be replaced.
This unit, in my opinion, is overpriced. It only says Fax machine and doesn't say anything about printing, but if you look closely, you'll notice that it can be connected to a computer with a standard USB printer cable. When connected to the computer, it scans, according to another answer.
I've never seen a fax machine that wasn't capable of receiving faxes. This machine appears to be a good value for the money. When you're not using it, you could simply turn it off. I've had a fax machine for a long time, and I can't recall ever receiving a fax that I wasn't expecting. You can leave the fax and phone number fields blank when setting up your account. That ought to do the trick, too.

This fax machine performs admirably. The "deep sleep" mode issue, on the other hand, is a real issue. I discovered the following after cutting and pasting several comments from the internet. 1) When the machine is not in use, it will automatically go into sleep mode. This helps you save money on electricity. The machine will wake up and receive faxes normally if it is left in regular sleep mode. So, that's great. 2) If left to its own devices, the machine will go into "deep sleep" mode after a certain amount of time (which you can set from the Ecology menu). This mode uses less energy than the standard sleep mode. The machine in deep sleep mode, on the other hand, will only wake up and be able to receive faxes if one of the following conditions are met: a) When a key is physically touched, b) when the handset is lifted, or c) when data is received from a computer or network. Only if the fax machine is connected to a computer or a network and used as a printer will this happen. If you want to use it as a stand-alone fax machine or if you want to receive faxes at all times, turn off the deep sleep mode. This is a difficult project to complete. br>To disable Deep Sleep mode, do the following: Press the Menu button. 1 can be selected using the up and down arrows. Press OK to complete the General Setup. Select 4. Press the OK button to return to the ecology section. Select 2. Press the OK button to start the sleep timer. After that, there's the two-step process. PRESS TOGETHER the LOW ARROW START keys while the digit sleep time is still on the screen. The Deep Sleep menu will appear on the screen. The up and down arrows can then be used to select yes or no. To exit Manu mode, enter OK and then press Stop/Exit. br>As environmentally friendly as the deep sleep mode is, it's still unclear why Brother made the Deep Sleep mode's control so difficult to access. br>The machine is a fantastic printer and makes excellent copies. It will be interesting to see how long the product will last and how much it will cost to maintain it.

It was a huge let down. Second, you can only copy single pages, e. g. Because you can't lift the top to expose the palette, you'll need to use copies of book pages. This machine has caused us a great deal of stress, and it hasn't made our daily office tasks any easier. Because it keeps breaking down, I drove into town yesterday to use another business's fax machine; we've put up with this nonsense since we bought it and should have returned it within the time frame. Now it appears that it is too late, and we have forfeited our right to return this equipment. Finally, toner cartridges are extremely expensive, and if they are nearing the end of their useful life, you will be unable to fax! I'd rate in the negatives if I had the option!.
In the same way I'm on my second unit. Similarly, I'm getting paper size mismatch errors for the second time. They're known as brother, and they're a nightmare to deal with. Buyer beware, this is a low-cost unit with no support; if you need Brother for anything, they will hassle you to death, and by the time anything is decided, they will simply delete the ticket from the system. BROTHER PRODUCTS ARE NOT TO BE BUYED. br>br>.
I've been getting by with cheap fax machines for several years, but when my last one (a cheap HP) died after only a year, I decided to spend a little more money and hopefully get something that would last. And so far, this one is working really well: 1. the print quality is excellent, much better than my previous fax machine, and it prints fairly quickly; 2. Each page takes 5 seconds. br>br>It was fairly simple to set up and only took me a few minutes to get it up and running, even with a few phone interruptions. br>Also, while it comes with everything you need to get started, you'll probably want to order an extra toner cartridge right away because the one that comes with it is only a starter and if you receive a lot of faxes you might find yourself without any toner. br>br>After I've had more time to use the printer, I'll update this review.
I've been dealing with the limitations of a 15-year-old fax machine for the past seven years: paper jams, memory issues, feeder issues, scanning issues, and trust issues!! I've been in pain for the past seven years. So I decided to invest in a new fax machine, despite the fact that 99. 9% of the faxes I receive are junk mail but once a week I get something that is actually business related and for that reason I have a functioning fax machine. This thing is This is the guy to call if you need a new fax machine but don't want one of those all-in-one machines.
