Toner changed on me and I was told I was going to have to purchase a new one. Before, I've had a few brother printers with simple overrides, but Brother seems to have worked a little harder on this one, and no matter how I tried, I couldn't get the printer to print checks at work even though it was printing flawlessly before the shutdown. In order to use this printer you need to be legally blind and be unable to tell when your copies look bad. The Brother employee will tell you (prematurely) that you should replace the cartridge with the company's overpriced genuine cartridge. I am a former Brother user and a long time (former) user. Purchased this product and am very dissatisfied with it. It has been very dependable for my small business to have a MFC 8910DW in my office. I need to print plenty of documents since I am an attorney. In order for me to be efficient and productive in my home office, I purchased this product. Sadly, the 8910DW is now discontinued, which would have sparked a second purchase. If I try to print a PDF that has more than a few pages, it will say that it is receiving information, but then it will never print. As well, it freezes whenever a small document (10 pages) is scanned. I have experienced instances where a part of my document is printed when I am printing a word Considering the price I pay, I expect to be able to print and scan documents easily and quickly. The printer was an absolute waste of money, and I'm very disappointed after using another brother laser printer that much better than this one.

In addition to replacing the Brother MFC8910DW printer which was often prone to errors, including drum error messages and broken drums, I purchased this printer for its low price and its high performance. As a reminder, I recently got a Brother MFCL5900DW printer to give it another go. * * *Speed In comparison with the older MFC8910DW, the MFCL5900DW seems to take about 2 seconds longer to reach the first printed state during initial startup. With it printed the MFCL5900DW goes very fast once it is printing.

Installation A total of eight computers are connected to the MFCL5900DW in my office. It took me quite a while to install. Use the CD or download the install file from the website. Windows 7 users using an external drive can install using the CD Extraction of files to a folder must be done through the administrator account. Install the software by right clicking the InstUI icon and selecting "Run as Administrator". Each time the printer crashes after being installed, there is a big red "X" in the printer's window. If you want to reset the printer, unplug its power cord from every machine that you install. If you plan to install the software on a Windows 8 computer, you must be logged into the system as an Administrator. During the installation process on all eight machines, I had to unplug the printer eight times. This is a disaster if your company holds large events and has to install the MFCL5900DW. A LCD screen looks like It doesn't matter to me whether the LCD screen is color or black and white. fluorescent lights above the MFCL5900DW, which makes it incredibly difficult to see When the overhead light is on, there will be glare on the first image. It is meant to provide a better view of what an LCD screen looks like when the light is With the older model, you can more easily read the black and white screen. The maintenance costs of each of them were unnecessarily high, and they all had their own quirky characteristics. I have had this printer for over a year and I am VERY pleased with it. There are no quirks about this MFP, it's very economical in terms of toner, and it just has this odd feeling of being well thought out in every way. Honestly, I hardly ever use the touch screen, but it works seamlessly. In most cases, I use the computer to control things. It took me five years to get rid of my Brother 8680DN I have been in the military for six My old 8680 printer was worn out, so I invested in this Brother 5900 printer to replace it. A major flaw with this new 5900 is the scan quality, which is much worse than the Blue ballpoint pen was written on a paper that is scanned, and it will miss about 20% of the words. Using the 8680 scanner to scan photos will yield a gray background image file. Scan white paper will give you grey background image file Although 5900 can only handle text documents, it is not reliable.
