Toner that is brand new from Brother and is detected as full no longer appears on the printer. I ran out of black toner after printing light text for 2 months. There may have been more pages than I realized, it seemed early but perhaps I was using it more than I knew. My printer does not seem to report empty toner until I buy a new brother toner cartridge, replace the old one, and perhaps get a week (*50 pages) of printing from this cartridge before it is reported for disposal. I love it. Therefore, I have submitted a help ticket to the Brother Customer Support Center. I have got helpful answers to my questions, but I am told that the printer will not work and will not be repaired. In spite of the fact that both toner cartridges are clearly not empty, their proprietary chips are reporting them to be empty, meaning you need to replace them early.

Not only is this printer not in my opinion one of the best, but even the older brother printers have some drawbacks. Nevertheless, it is still a valuable aspect of using this model printer, because it is part of the experience of using it. These companies have gone totally out of control when it comes to holding you hostage and overcharging you for As always, it has been the case, but the technology is constantly advancing, and this is the worst printer yet in terms of quality. Once it has printed about 800 pages, it will stop working unless you replace the toner cartridge with a brand new, genuine Brother cartridge that is roughly the same price You still have quite a lot of toner in that cartridge that it tells you is empty. I have always had a good experience with my brother printers in the past, so I was eager to try this new In a little more than a month, I have printed more than The printer does not have a toner reset option, which is such a disappointment to me. Each time I have to dispose of a toner cartridge it feels as if I have been robbed, and for some reason, all of the toner cartridges seem to be running out at the same time. There may be a page count, but I'm not quite sure how much toner is actually being consumed. For some reason, while printing some black and white pages in grayscale mode (I selected it on both the printer and computer), my computer informed me that both my yellow and black toners had run out. Since then, I have been unable to print any documents. The worksheets are vital for my studies! I'm quite pissed! Regardless, there is still toner in the printer, but because there is a "smart" chip in it, the consumer is My wish would have been to have bought an earlier model of this printer in order to manually reset the toner. To summarize, if I had to choose again, I would go with a printer that allows consumers to re-set and use until all the toner has been used up. This printer isn't worth the money I spent on it. I wish I had known this prior to purchasing it. It would be helpful for anyone else if I shared what I have learned, so that they do not make the same mistake as I have.
