This is not something I would buy ****** UPDATE ** KEY TAKEAWAY ** IF YOU READ ONE THING TAKE THIS INTO ACCOUNT **
While writing this review, I found this fantastic hack for brothers printers, which I have now put to excellent
I mention a bug in my full review below where the printer does not recognize brand new cartridges for toner. It seems there is another related bug, and I have come up with a simple hack to fix them both. This could save you hundreds or thousands of dollars throughout the lifetime of the product. It has already saved me hundreds of dollars. I wanted to put out the following first *I have one more useful tip for you! **October 19, 2020** In the event that you decide to purchase this printer, make sure to either A) save or B) photograph
for future reference the original Brother printer toner cartridges in your machine. As I mentioned at the end of this review, just now I had a great experience with their customer support. For more information, please see below. This is the bug the printer will continually tell you that it is out of toner once it reaches the counter on its internal toner supply, without actually checking the cartridge stock somehow internal to determine whether the printer is actually out of toner. In a nutshell, here's how it works

Do not listen to what your printer is telling you when it is out of toner! I suggest you look at the last few pages that Can you tell if they are How would this look if it was printed with a printer with low toner levels? Is everything still sharp and crisp, and are the pages clear and easy to read as you would like? If your printed pages are sharp and crisp, you probably do not need to replace the toner. The actual step you need to take is to 1). Stop any existing For the win, it's the shark! *
*5) Press the following buttons in the following order (We have three buttons on the LCD screen to the left "Back", "Home", and "Cancel", arranged in ascending order) I agree. The 'back' and 'cancel' together in unison, be sure to push down simultaneously and let go evenly (the whole move lasts less than a second)* As a result, the machine will think that new toner has been installed
8) once this has been completed, you can continue printing
9) when you actually run out of toner, you will have to decide when you are actually out. I have applied this trick to all 3rd party toner manufacturers I have tried, and it has not caused any ill effects. I have accidentally printed 20 or 30 pages when I did not have enough toner, but this costs me a lot less money than if I replace the toner when the printer says it is out of toner. As far as I can tell, the printer only says that it is out of toner once its internal "toner counter" reaches a certain number, like 4000 pages. I hope this helps you!
12) Thanks for reading! I wish you luck with this printer if you still have it! Having an all-inclusive printing strategy has allowed me to print everything I will ever need to print for as long as I can remember! My homework should be finished within a week or so! After that, I can get back to my life and stop having to fight this human brother printer - This is a part-time monkey business I've been running for the past Hope everything works out for you! **
Here are the bullet points, though not in any particular order, in reference to the review It is common for the #1 printer to make many long pauses during printing jobs, often lasting 5 minutes or more A ten-minute wait is all that's required. When you continue printing, it simply says "waiting for a while," at the end of each step. As far as I know, this has never been an issue I find that to be a deal breaker. My understanding is that the device is cooling down for safety reasons.
Unfortunately, it happens to a consistent extent, that seriously decreases their advertised pages per minute.
#2 printer has multiple components (laser, drum, etc) that need to be replaced every few tens of thousands of pages of printing. It has been about a month since the printer has been in a small home office, and I had to replace the drum. The cost of this item was around $150. Additionally, each and every one of the last 10,000 pages of the previous drum had a black streak on the left side. It looked like every page was printed on toner It was burnt. It has been extremely aggravating to deal with this. I will never be able to afford to buy more toner and paper to replace these pages, so I will have to live with these burned out documents for my entire life. As of 2020, we are living in a digital world. A man can land on the moon and we can make airplanes fly at Mach 3. How is it possible to engineer a printer without needing to replace its entire middle over a short period of time? My take on it is that I do not In a sense, toner is a resource that these brother printers consume as paintball courses consume Considering that toner is their main source of revenue, they have no incentive to work on systems that do not consume toner. The fact the printer components need to be replaced after a few weeks, and not in a year or even a few months under heavy load, There is money for the replacements, so I know they are getting it. A business run this way is only run by second rate businessmen and below average engineers. The design team is unwilling to produce a product which would be worth the money and handle the load that should have been present in the specification. Their engineering problems are inadequacies they try to pass on to you, their customers, making you pay hundreds more money for toner and parts replacements. You now have the new job of "brother printer technician" on top of whatever else you already were It will consume a lot of your time, and later on, you will have to pay more money to have the parts replaced in the machine on which they designed it.
***In light of that, I want to make my third point. A toner cartridge. Toner is an interesting commodity to observe in #3 of the infographic. So, let's take a closer look at this. In addition to these 79, there are many others. * Dear Brother There is something the market is trying to tell you! There is no point in paying so much for toner! There is ink on it! The competition is eager to demonstrate not only that toner does not merit much money, but that it also contains high levels of contaminants The highest quality Toner that has been rated as working* is worth less than that. They seem to be able to do it with ease! There are several places on the Internet where we (your customers) can see warnings like this (paraphrasing) "Beware of Toner from Brother should only be used. You are not permitted to use third party toners as these can harmfully damage your printer or void your guarantee"

but brother, the printer costs $352. If we had to purchase your printer, and we had to purchase 438-dollar toner every few thousand pages, why would we? There is a high-quality product that I could buy Unlike the $50 variety, I can play about with it on the wild side, cross my fingers that nothing horrible happens, and then, if the printer catches on fire, I can just buy a brand new one! Toner from Brother would have cost me more money than I saved from buying the other variety! My time would have been wasted if I had There is also the whole chunk of burning plastic emitting who knows what into the atmosphere, which takes up time and energy as well. Are you sure that makes any sense at all? And so I am able to Toner from a third party has been working for me and the prints have been great! There are no problems other than the drum on the other side. While still using third-party toner, I managed to eliminate the streaks once I replaced the drum (a $150 replacement piece of plastic that I purchased from brother). Here is what I find when I encounter the behavior I described in number 4

#4 Here is what I find when I encounter it *Some of you probably work in the field of programming or engineering. Let's see if we can find out what the problem is. I had to change toner on the brother printer because I needed Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow" *the user said The new pack is here! A user changed the toner, put in new toner, then closed his printer. A brother's printer showed the same error, so the user said, "Hmm, that's odd. I just bought this new set of paper. ". The user pulls out another toner set from another box and connects them to the printer. So far so good, the user thinks to himself. It's time for us to put these to the test! It appears to be working with the new toner! The user comments, "wow, that's cool. ". It's a shame I have to waste these new toner cartridges now! As it turns out, my brother was right about the 3rd party toners not being reliable. The wait isn't over yet! As soon as an idea occurs to the user
he opens the printer again, removes the new working toners, and then installs the first set he tried earlier
voila! The printing has resumed! When the printer is closed, the supply levels are still updated from the second set of working With the new toner cartridge, the printer has been able to print 4,000 flawless color pages from a cartridge that previously was ruled out as faulty by a third party. Okay, hold on a minute. How did this picture get so bad? Can you tell me if there is a software bug here? Does your hardware have a This might be a problem with the third party toner or a problem with Brother's system? The behavior I describe has been consistent over the past few weeks. In a strange way my toners got out of sync with the Brother printer, and I had to use a surrogate to fool the Brother printer into recognising them. I swapped them back out later at the same time to avoid wasting the What is the purpose of my actions? The fact is that brother literally builds a mechanism into their machines to brick any computer not connected to the computer Brother toner cartridges that have been removed from their machine once previously. you plug the toner in, brother printer "whirs" for a few moments, and then that cartridge, full of ink, will no longer recognize as 'new' (unless you're Now you have surrogate toner cartridges that will not work if you try using them as replacements once out of ink (unless you have surrogates for these) and the cycle will continue! And there are so many other minor design flaws with this machine. It has proven to be a real challenge finding and resolving them. My intention is to share this now so that one of you is spared from buying brother and can use this information to buy a different brand.

Final thoughts I agree. The number of pages printed per minute from a USB stick is an order of magnitude less than advertised - I have noticed that the software interface to direct print usb sticks is MEGA slow, and that it always returns you to the top of the tree after clicking on "forward", "back" and "forward", forward, and back. To use the touch screen correctly, make sure you don't hit the wrong key! It might be that you scroll back through your alphabetized USB stick contents for 5 minutes heading back to the letter "M" - Transparency in PDF files has a significant impact on how long they take to print on this machine. The printer, (if it has enough time to print the whole tray before you come back) will start spilling over the edge of the landing zone after about 1/3 of the tray has passed, leaving your pages out of order strewn all over the floor when you return. Basically, this can be mitigated a bit by using a plastic flap, but it only works to the degree that you can sort of print 2/3 of the tray without too much On top of the plastic flap, I duct taped a piece of cardboard. With this change, the pages will no longer spill, but after too many pages are printed, the printer literally jams. I think that is all I can think of at the moment. However, wow is all I can say. As soon as I bought this thing, I feel like I took on a side job as a printer technician. Please beware of counterfeit toner cartridges!

*update* November 20, 2020** Make sure to save or photograph your original Brother Technical support from Brother will lock you out if they determine that you are not using genuine cartridges and that you are having problems with your printer. I do not care about the technical issue that you are experiencing, or whether it is solvable without genuine ink All users who cannot read a barcode will be denied access to the website by their tech support. No matter whether the issue is a result of the toner cartridges or the machine itself, the solution is the same. It is extremely unlikely the brother tech support assistant will be able to read the barcode in their genuine toner cartridges, and will respond to anything As long as you are using genuine Brother toner cartridges, the rest of my technical steps will not apply to you. Say " I tell you I don't have any of those. Hello! I'm in need of an iPad. I would like to try these steps with you. Could you read me the steps so I can There is a chance that they will not work, but if there is any chance at all that they do, please let me know! Once I get back to what I was doing before the machine started buzzing loudly and broke, I could continue doing what I was doing! The words "Brother support" are delivered in a robotic voice I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. You will not be able to follow the rest of my technical steps until you have used genuine brother cartridges ten times in a row. It would have been simple to be able to read the barcode off of the original cartridge (that came with the machine) if I had a photograph or one of the original cartridges. I'm almost certain that the subsequent steps could have at least diagnosed the problem, but the whole tech support staff refused to provide any information about what they might have been. Having been on hold for well over an hour, I was finally able to talk to the rep. The rudest thing ever! An intense buzzing noise was heard from the printer, which stopped printing in color. The new drum looks amazing! I tried two new sets of cartridges and a whole new set of drums! Everything I tried didn't work! Since the new drum unit, and two sets of toner cartridges didn't work, I'm confident they are not the cause of the There is something wrong with the machine, but I will never find out if it is Brother's fault since they refuse to My real brother would never do something like that. I think they need a new name for their company. A WARNING TO BUYERS.

Put your inkjets in the trash
5/5

This is what you need to know! My love for this printer hasn't diminished after six months of use! The previous Brother printer I had was always reliable, and this one is as well. It simply does what I need it to do when I need it to print a certain way. A manual feed is easy to do. (By lowering the levers on the envelopes). Stock with a thick texture. This paper shredder has plenty of I am extremely pleased with the color reproduction! Instead of a color document with poor photo quality, I got a color document instead. The print quality of my 4-color printer is better than my 3-color printer The inkjet is a color photo optimized inkjet and I just lost patience with all the inkjet maintenance issues. There are minor deviations from the color reproduction on some photos but I don't dock any points because (1) I am a printer. I am naturally picky, so I am incredibly fussy. As a color laser printer, it is not intended to be used as a photo printer, (2) my parents were in the printing business, (3) it is very minor and less than I expected.

This is my first time purchasing a color laser printer and I am pleased with it
5/5

In essence, the printer comes with four standard toner cartridges, and you are practically getting them I'm excited about it- $173 is the price of color cartridges with high yield. There are 48 cartridges in each box. I'm excited about it- In the Black cartridge, the yield is 82 pages. The total cost of the set is $602, which is the equivalent of one year's rent. Cartridges manufactured by third parties are much cheaper, however, the build quality of the cartridges is atrocious and the quality of the toner is poor. When you use third party cartridges you run the risk of damaging the printer or of the toner leaking into it. After buying toner, you won't run out for a couple of There is a good chance that the toner will last longer than the printer. Toner is used by laser printers and ink is used by inkjet printers. The lifespan of toner is significantly longer than that of Ensure the printer is well-maintained and you do everything possible to avoid paper jams. One paper tray can be ordered and two paper trays can also be ordered. The cost of additional trays is higher if you buy them in individual bundles. It is not possible to use paper trays for thick paper, glossy paper, and envelopes, but the multipurpose tray can hold thick paper, glossy paper, Several applications are available on the touch screen and the interface is easy to use. Google Drive can be printed from, among other places. is not capable of scanning, copying, or faxing documents, it can only print them. The Ethernet and WiFi connections are both present. The Ethernet connection allowed me to establish a much more reliable connection than wireless, since a direct connection will always be more reliable than wireless. While I do not know if the wireless connection is good, I believe it does not disconnect as frequently as the HP Photosmart 7520 I have. It is not an 802. 11 wireless card, so it doesn't support Gigabit speeds. I'm unable to install the utility on Mac OS 10. It isn't 11ac ready and it can't connect to the 5 GHz band if your network broadcasts on it. The tool does not work on Windows 10, but I was able to install it on Windows 2. There are good drivers for the printer, but none provide additional features that can be used to make printing easier. In case you forgot, you can also print from your iPhone or any modern mobile device equipped with the NFC technology. This means that you are not required to be on the same network as the printer to print, but you must be near the printer to print. As of yet, I have not experienced any problems. The printer will serve me well at home and for my own personal use, so in theory it should perform Since I purchased this printer this is my first color laser printer. I have been pleased so far.

My printer arrived at the office and I installed it (not the easiest I've ever done
3/5

It was quite heavy to install, so I bought it and installed it myself (not an easy task). In my tests, I noticed that my Microsoft Publisher documents had a "ghost" image at the backside (this only occurs when printing duplex), which is a real concern as I plan to use the majority of my printer for this kind of document. In response to my email, Amazon decided to replace the printer after some troubleshooting. As much as I wanted to be surprised, the same problem occurred with a replacement printer. After spending over an hour on the phone and through chat with Brother support, I was unable to resolve the problem. It's worth noting that my HP printer, which is being replaced by this Brother model, has never had a problem like this. Both documents are on the same piece of paper. escalated my issue and I should hear from them by the end of It is impossible for me to comprehend why this issue occurs or why it is so difficult to solve. There is a likelihood that I will need to return to my 12-grading The year is The HP Color Laserjet 2600n is an old printer. While it takes a while to print, the results are good. There is no way to predict what will happen in the future.
