The printer is excellent
5/5

This printer was a stand-in for the previous one, and it was of the same make and model. The first one had made us so happy. It lasted for about 8 years. I'm hoping it lasts as long as the last.

Unless you plan on printing a few color pages every week, don't buy this Brother MFC. I purchased one of these devices to use as a scanner, fax machine, and card reader. I don't want to print right now because I have a lot of ink to go through with another printer, but it turns out that you can't even set up the Brother MFC without ink cartridges. br>br>Then, over time, these ink cartridges are sucked dry, and Brother has set up a routine to activate some sort of ink-wasting mechanism at regular intervals. (This is true even if the printer is switched off. ) If you unplug the printer, it will go through this process when you reconnect it. ) This procedure, as far as I understand it, will require you to purchase four new ink cartridges every six months. Without even having to print! Furthermore, when printing black and white, the black ink is mixed with the color ink, depleting the color ink. The amount of ink in the cartridge is checked by a sensor. br>br> It will, however, indicate that a cartridge is "empty" long before it is actually empty. Although you may have enough ink for one more. The device will stop working if there are more than 1000 prints left. br>br>At this point, the ink isn't just disappearing. It's kept in the device's receptacle - The device will most likely stop working once this is reached. You'd need to purchase a new one in that case. br>br>Warning: Brother may not be alone in this "business model," and other brands may employ similar tactics. According to what I've read, Brother is the target of a class-action lawsuit.

SCAMMER, printer, copier, scanner, and fax machine This item was purchased in November of last year

It combines the functions of a printer, copier, scanner, and fax machine. I've always had good results with a Canon CanoScan N670U scanner, but I replaced my desktop computer three months ago with a laptop. I needed to scan something last night for the first time in months, and I discovered that my Canon scanner is incompatible with Windows 7, which is installed on my laptop. I ended up using this Brother scanner for the first time, and it's a decent scanner that's somewhat user friendly, though learning how to use it took some time because this Brother unit didn't come with a good hard copy of instructions. Instead, you'll have to largely rely on trial and error to figure out how to operate this device. With so many electronic devices available nowadays, this is the case. They either don't come with any instructions or require printing from their website, which wastes a lot of paper and ink. Alternatively, select Help from the menu bar. This is inconvenient, and I believe the majority of people would agree. br>br>The printer spits out pages at a reasonable rate; I'm not sure how many per minute, etc. , but it's reasonable, or at least average. In addition, the copier is in good working order. I have yet to use the fax machine. Here's the issue: br>br>Now here's the issue: Color ink cartridges are still required (and must be purchased) even if you only print in black and white. "Huh?" you may ask. Yes, you read that correctly - Even if you never print in color, the machine requires color cartridges because it uses them while performing self-cleaning. Every couple of days, a thorough cleaning is performed. The color ink cartridges will be depleted as a result of this, and guess what? When the color cartridges run out, you'll get a series of error messages, including "No Ink Cartridge" (despite the fact that you have a brand new black cartridge installed) and "Install Ink. " It will inform you that all of the color cartridges must be replaced. Worse yet, until you replace the color ink cartridges, your printer will not function at all. So, even if you only want to print in black and white, you'll need to purchase THREE EXPENSIVE color cartridges just to print anything. Isn't that the case? br>br>This unit is a complete waste of time and money. It's a sham and a waste of time.

This is a fantastic low-volume multi-function printer
5/5

I've been using the mfc-remote-controller (mfc-remote-control For the past three years, I've been using the j415w. It's a capable printer for light business or moderate home office use. I usually use it for light home office work, with a few high-volume sessions thrown in for good measure. With the exception of the fax machine, I use all of the features on a regular basis. Advantages: br>br> br>*High-quality printing with a pleasing color balance. br>*The scan bed is of excellent quality. br>*Control Center 3 software is user-friendly and powerful, but you don't have to use it if you don't want to. br>*A bulk scanner is useful for storing digital copies of multiple-page documents. documents that are pages long br>*Easy to set up wireless via wifi.
*On- The color screen and device controls are both very functional and simple to operate. br>*For the printer's intended work environment, print speeds at normal quality are acceptable. br>*INK THAT IS CHEAP. LC61 cartridges can be found on Amazon. The prices are unbelievable, and the quality of these third-party cartridges is outstanding. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. br>*The feed tray can only hold 50 sheets at a time, but you can reload it in the middle of the process. It isn't a deal breaker, but it is a pain to deal with. If you switch paper types, you'll need to replace all of the paper, which will require you to remove the entire tray. br>*Bulk scanner quality is a little low (not unbearable or illegible) unless it is set to the highest scan quality, at which point it is excruciatingly slow. At maximum resolution, each page can take up to a minute to render. Regular scan quality is about half that per page, and fast scans are much faster but produce scans of poor quality. br>br>Conclusion: br>br> I would recommend this printer to anyone looking for a MFC printer for a medium-volume home office. It can handle higher-volume projects if you don't mind waiting, with a respectable (but not great) print and scan speed and a disappointingly small sheet capacity. The scan/copy feature is a great, convenient, and less expensive alternative to sending something via Fedex.
