LCD
3/5

I was unable to create a menu because the LCD was not functioning properly, preventing me from entering all of the required data. And the paper continues to clog. I attempted to clean the rubber rolls that are supposed to transport the paper. I tried using isopropyl rubbing alcohol and a que tip, but it didn't work. I'm at a loss for how to proceed. I'm afraid I won't be able to return it. It's exactly like my Brother Intellifax 885 MC, which is experiencing the same paper jamming issues.

The design is simple and straightforward
4/5

My fourth 1270e has just arrived in the mail - This is within the last ten years. 12 years. I've looked into alternatives each time, but the other basic faxes are bulkier, cost a lot more to operate, or have features I don't need. As a result, I continue to return. I have a good copier, laser printer, and excellent scanner in my home office, but I have yet to see a multi-function printer. For faxing, however, really high quality isn't a priority, so I'm looking for a multi-function machine that can do all of those things at the level of quality I need. I want my fax to be simple, fast, and easy to read, and the 1270e delivers on all three counts. br>br>I run part of my small private business from home, and the 1270e is ideal for that. This is not the machine for you if you do a lot of inbound or outbound traffic; each one has lasted me about three years. 4 years with no repairs or maintenance except wiping down the rollers with rubbing alcohol and cleaning out paper dust every 6 months or so, and a couple drops of lubricant in key spots once a year - They're also inexpensive enough that when something breaks (or, as in today's episode, I break it), I simply replace it rather than repair it. br>br>The machine is easy to set up and operate, as well as clean and maintain. It also has sufficient memory. The cartridges cost around $25 and last me about three months. 4 months (I keep meticulous records of cartridge usage; The average number of faxes received is likely between 150 and 200. 250 pages per month), and they're easy to switch out. You can save some money by using the replaceable film rolls. br>br>I rarely send more than 15 pages at a time, and the machine can easily handle that, as well as 40-plus pages. OK for 50 pages of incoming data - A heavier load than that isn't good for the blank paper tray. Yes, there are occasional paper jams feeding in or printing out, but no more frequently than with any of the other office machines I've owned. Check the rollers if you're getting a lot of jams. Jiggle them to see if they spin freely, and clean them if necessary. A sliver of paper or lint, or a build-up of lint The accumulation of grime can cause jamming to worsen. If that doesn't work, or if it jams right away, switch to a different brand (or weight) of paper. I've had some brands that jam frequently and others (usually of slightly higher quality) that don't.

high standard of excellence The Brother 1270e is a basic printer with basic features that performs admirably
4/5

It isn't particularly quick in terms of execution or speed, but it gets the job done. It was a replacement for an older Brother fax machine that did more and will need to be repaired for the one flaw that BOTH of these machines have: Plastic clips on each side of the mechanism press the ink transfer mechanism against the paper tightly. THESE CLIPS HAVE A TENDENCY TO SNAP/FRACTURE OVER TIME, EITHER AS A RESULT OF AGE OR TRAUMA. This is the second time I've had to replace those clips on my old machine. Because the plastic clips on this new machine are similar, I expect the same issue to arise. I'm not sure why Brother doesn't use metal for them.

Man, it's all about the fax
4/5

This is the fax for you if you need a fax for your home office and don't want to spend a lot of money. It's easy to put together, uses standard copy paper, and takes up little space. The only drawback is that it is incompatible with our voicemail system, so we are unable to use the auto answer mode. We're fine without the auto answer because we only use it for outgoing faxes; we just have to manually switch it to fax mode to receive. If you need the auto answer, carefully read the specifications before purchasing this one.

IntelliFax Machine is a great low-cost backup fax machine
5/5

For less than $50, you can set up a fax machine for use in your home office. I'm hoping it'll last until I upgrade all of my machines in six months. Whether you have an office set-up or not, it's convenient to have an extra phone at home. whether it's up or not.

Reliable
4/5

I had a different model in my office for 15 years before purchasing this one used because I had several of the old unit's ribbons. It's a simple machine that accomplishes the task at hand.
