I don't believe so, because it's a tape, not ink, that's in there, as far as I know.

It was easy to set up this fax machine. I had this out of the box and in use in ten minutes, which was no different than plugging in a phone to the land line. This was not a new concept to me because I had previously used fax machines. It is extremely easy to use. You prepare the document, dial the desired number, and then press the send button when you hear the fax on the other end. I haven't attempted to receive a fax, but that isn't what I require. This will primarily be used for document transmission. I suppose in this day and age, you must have a land line phone with a dial tone and a nearby outlet to plug it into.
