Neither this nor the iFI NEO gave me a good impression, but I preferred the NEO. Sure, the RME comes with a lot of extras, but that's just a lot of "bells and whistles". The device is often called the best DAC for the price, but this isn't true for me. You'll have to use your own ears to determine if it's quality, but it's mostly overhyped. This graphic might be attractive to you - Separate them and buy them separately. There you have it! I love it. I also wish you good health - This is how users describe it, but this is not unchangeable since they are coming from entry level DACs, so it can be noticeable, however that does not mean it is the best $1k dac on the market. As I have been on the market for a while looking for a good DAC, I was leaning towards the Chord. I was able to listen to the RME of my son, who is also an audiophile, and it was lush, full-range and mellow. The DAC in this device is the same as those A daunting 200-page manual comes with this unit, but I am only using it with my audiophile systems. Since I purchased an Audio Lab 6000 transport that is connected to my RME 6000, I have sold my CD player and am in heaven. I really like the sound in this piece.
