Questions & Answers

This microphone looks to be lighter than Rode's PSA1. Could it be an issue?

A timer is located on the microphone. This microphone weighs one pound 12 ounces with all the inserts in it. It seems a bit on the heavy side, but I think I could manage it with the Rode. I don't have the Rode PSA1, but it is mentioned in the spec sheet that it is capable of supporting over two

How does the XLR cable work with this product?

The cables that come with XLR microphones are often missing. There is a good chance that you will want different cable lengths depending on your application. In addition to a shockmount and pop filter, which I find unique at this price point, you also get some travel accessories.

Do I have to connect a mobile phone to use the app?

XLR converters are required if you want to use it with a mobile phone. I haven't had any luck with the ones I've tried. This is definitely a microphone better suited to a desktop environment.

What's the best way to mount this? Should I buy a stand or just use the shock mount thing?

In this case, the shock mount's main purpose is only to reduce sound vibrations that would otherwise be transmitted up to the microphone via the stand. It's still necessary to have some type of mic stand.

Radio frequencies can be captured quite well with this device
3/5

To begin with, I want to point out that there is a possibility that A brand new item I bought from Amazon arrived with no tape covering two-inches of the edges There were two sides to the box, and it appeared that one of them had already been When I opened the box, I could easily tell that it had already been opened due to the taped parts being ripped open. Amazon surprised me by sending me a pre-owned item when I purchased it "new. " I'm not sure why they did this. While I might have kept this mic regardless of whether it was opened or not, but I figured it was time to put it to the test. I could hear radio frequencies immediately after I realized the mic picked them up. The radio tunes played faintly in the background after I turned the 48v phantom power on. After adjusting the gain on the radio, the audio was clear as day and I could hear Five members of KOIT (San Francisco) are competing. In my case, I used the same XLR cable and preamp setup for my AKG C414 XLS Mic and for my Sennheiser E836 Mic because there were no issues or My ears were still picking up radio frequencies when I returned to the worker bee. It did not work even after I changed the XLR cable and tried running it from a different preamp, a radio station kept playing in the background through this worker bee microphone. As of this point, it was safe to say that the microphone was the source of the radio frequency. As you can see from the photo, my box had clearly been opened. I am not sure if the mic has been tampered with to pick up radio frequencies or if this has always been an issue with the mic. Also possible is that whoever bought the mic before me may have also listened to radio frequencies and subsequently returned Regardless, it was a very strange experience and it would have been awful for someone who was just learning how to record. It was luckily my other tools and expertise that enabled me to rule out that it was any of my gear, such as headphones, a Apparently there are multiple sources from which radiofrequency pick up can be picked up from a mic/recording set up, but sadly it was the worker bee that picked those frequencies up. There were too many frequencies picked up by this worker bee.

There's a lot of neat stuff here, A better microphone would be much easier if you didn't have one You would think this is great compared to what you had before
4/5

Even if you're not an expert, you can put together a pretty decent bare voice over track with it if you have experience in post. The Sennheiser MKH 415 T I had started having problems with, and I was in need of a cheap microphone fairly quickly, so I ordered this Neat Worker Bee. The sound is fine after I set it up, cut a few voice over auditions, and I really liked the results. Additionally, it has a low level of self-esteem Low noise in this microphone, which is remarkable for a sub-one hundred dollar device. You can actually get a pretty nice sound out of it if you know how to edit in post. I don't - There is a good chance that it will confuse you with a TLM 103, but if you're a podcaster or do little voice over jobs, this won't bother you. includes a great box and funny but informative instruction manual, a good shock mount, a pop on pop filter, a toy bee, and a quick release pop $89. 50 seems like a bargain, but what you get is quite a lot. Despite this, however. My 415 is in good shape I found that there are no problems. In the end, it was a cabling issue that was solved with a Canare Quad Star cable and Neutrik connectors made by a blue jeans company In order to do this, I pulled up my old resume Just for fun, I did a back reading with an audition script. It's easy to hear the difference between a legendary German microphone and a sub $100 Chinese microphone, as you might expect when a legendary microphone is being compared. As for the midrange, the Sennheiser has a lighter tone and lacks worker bee's somewhat dark mids. The Worker Bee track contained a balanced, pleasant and clear sound, but some clever post-processing enabled me to create a very nice balanced, pleasant and clear sound track. The auditions went well and I didn't even think twice about it. * To be completely honest, I would highly recommend this over In fact, NT1 could be either A or NT2. What's the reason? Due to the lack of harsh, brittle highs which appear to be built into the Rodes in such a way that no amount of EQ can render it pleasant or smooth - the Worker Bee sounds better and less harsh than the Rodes. Ask me how I know it. I can assure you that your client's sound engineer is also aware of this. Not good at all. For repeating what we said earlier, the Worker Bee made a much better choice than the Rode for recording an overall pleasing, sounding track. In conclusion, if you have a baritone voice and need to EQ out some of that boominess from your voice over track, the Worker Bee will be a good companion since, (barring proximity effect), it won't pick up those low rumblings. On the other hand, if you have a thin voice or are female, the Neat King Bee might be a better choice for you because of its warmer low Therefore, while it may not be on the same level as a Sennheiser, it might be an acceptable alternative It is the ideal machine for anyone who wants to start learning voice over but doesn't want to spend a fortune, or for podcasters and gamers who want a high return on their investment. It seems to me that Nice is a very neat company, and I hope that their growth continues.
