My brother loves the gift. I bought it for him and he absolutely As a replacement for the regular snare in his Pearl set, he now uses this one. I had to tune it up and adjust the snare strap on it to play it out of the box, but it still has a nice pop to it. The heads and hardware are of great quality. Metal is his main genre of music.

This is the best snare drum I've ever owned, regardless of the price. This snare is great for any type of music, I prefer classic rock, but it will work equally well for any other kind of music as you can adjust it high or low and it will sound great in either case. It is a great size. Carry it easily since it is easy to transport. I'm very satisfied with the finish and quality of the hoops. My recommendation is to try it.

A couple of them were purchased. Because of the reviews I've read, I'm going to get 3mm Gibralter hoops to replace the thinner ones that come with this. I like the sound of this drum! It comes with a Remo Ambassador that looks as if it was made in the USA! The nice mids that came out of this thing surprised me. If you like tight funky sounds, this is the album to buy.
Using pearl to make a snare is a great idea. There is a Remo ambassador head on the batter and a clear thin ambassador on the reso, which I was pleased. They are the same heads I use on all my snares (now 6). In a matter of 15 minutes, it is tuned up and For practice snares, I use it since it is clear, snappy, and not quite as heavy as a metal, 5 or 6 inch Pearls are a great investment and you can't go wrong with them.
