After comparing this crash to the rest of my Byzance crashes (17"), I wasn't sure how I felt about it. As this is my first Pure Vintage, I went with a splash (10" Dual) and 16" length. It has gradually grown on me, and I've come to appreciate the depth and complexity of decay that this cymbal provides. I mostly play pop and rock, and this cymbal fits in well with those styles. It's probably best suited to acoustic and electric jazz, but it's not loud enough for Pop/Rock. This reminds me of a Zildjian Dark K or a K Constantinople. Drummers can be seen riding on this cymbal in some demos available online. There's nothing special about this cymbal that makes it sound any different than any other 18" crash, and it's awful and washy, so I'm not sure why they even tried. It's a high-end crash cymbal that sounds exactly like it should; it's not a hybrid ride. It's a bit pricey because it's a Meinl, but I see it as an investment and a legacy cymbal that I won't replace. selling.
Meinl cymbals in this price range have consistently exceeded my expectations (21" Transition Ride, 20" Sand Ride, 14" Sand Hihats). I can confidently state that this cymbal is a work of art. The cymbal is a rich, dark tone with a buttery smoothness. When this cymbal is played, both friends with and without musical experience are taken aback. If you're hesitating for any reason, just go ahead and do it. I'm in ecstasy right now.
I got it for my boyfriend as a present. He's a professional musician with high standards who is passionate about the sound he creates. I'm not familiar with this sort of thing, but he was ecstatic to receive it and is completely enamored with it. This is something I'm glad I bought.
The sound of this cymbal is incredible! Unless I'm completely blown away, I don't leave reviews. So, first and foremost, let me say that this cymbal sounds fantastic. It cuts through nicely, but it isn't trashy or overly metallic. I'm so happy to have more options at such reasonable prices!.
When you hit it hard, it cuts right through, but it also works well with a light touch. As if it were butter. br>Along with the 20" thin crash, I bought the 20" thick crash. Amazing! I'm thinking about getting a new hi-fi system to replace the one I Meinl wears hats.
This cymbal is absolutely stunning. This cymbal is great for low volumes and absolutely pierces through when the music is loud and intense, which is what I play more jazz fusion type music, and it's very versatile.
I'm afraid to break this cymbal because of how much it costs. Just some words of advice for anyone considering purchasing this cymbal for the first time. However, it sounds appealing.
I bought this as a backup crash because I already had the 16-inch crash. inch model, and the two of them sound fantastic together. Beautiful wash sounds like a great place to go for a short ride on quiet terrain. It lacks the necessary cut for use in big bands or larger venues.
