The drum shell is finished in a "gloss" finish, while the wood hoops are finished in a "satin" finish. " This is an extremely eye-catching piece. The appearance of the catching snare is frequently discussed by audience members. Due to its warm tone and excellent projection, it is my go-to snare for jazz and brush work.

My wife caught me counting plys with a mag glass as I opened the carton and immediately dismantled it. The drum is extremely heavy, approaching the 14-pound shipping limit. The DW Three-way butt end is a waste of time. Drilling the drum isn't an option because it won't fit. When I contacted DW, they informed me that installing a three-way on this drum was not advised. That, I believe, indicates that the holes are not aligned. But, having said that, I replaced the snares with a 30 strand because I could. After a three-day stay in the house, I fine-tuned it. It's cranked up. The sound quality is excellent. There was only one drop of the drum and no ringing of the bells! This rim shot sales pitch is complete nonsense! A rifle-like sound comes from a good solid rim shot. It's not a problem if I believe I need to be heard above the bass player. The drum is sensitive to small changes, but if you want to be heard, this is the weapon for you! I am completely happy. A newcomer to the 18-ply drum.
I've been playing drums for 25 years and have used everything from a cheap unnamed metal thing to top-of-the-line Ludwigs and Yamaha. This snare is far superior to the previous one. To put it plainly, The 20-ply construction gives this drum an old-school sound, which my wife described as "sounding exactly like the records. " The drum is a work of art in and of itself. In terms of sound and craftsmanship, both are excellent. Although I couldn't change ity fast enough, the head that came with it isn't half bad. The drum became more than just a timekeeper once I got a dry Head; it became a musical instrument capable of a variety of fun tunings. It's the perfect complement to my Pdp concept custom series kit. br>Because the thick wooden hoops will increase the size of your drum by a couple of inches, make sure you have at least a 15 - inch drum. I couldn't find a 16-inch drum stand that I liked anywhere else, so I had to buy one from Pearl.
Snare Drum is fantastic.
I have a lot of snare drums, but this is the one I use on stage and in the studio.
It's something I'd like to see more of.
I like the tone of the drum, but the lugs will not stay tight during the show and will loosen.
