It didn't work out for me because it was damaged when it arrived, so I returned it, and replaced it with a Remo 22" Ocean Drum that I prefer. It can be a little awkward to play Ocean/Sea drums because of the shifting weight from the It would be much more comfortable for a drummer to play a simple frame drum. It's a great idea to use ocean drums Playing is not as fun as it used to be. It is most comfortable for me to hold it between my knees like a djembe, but you can also achieve some nice shaker effects by tapping your heel while resting it on one thigh.

My experience with a Meinl ocean drum (played at a sound healing event) was very positive. - I bought a less expensive brand only to be shocked at its noise Unlike the Meinl, it isn't relaxing at all. Having returned the others and learned that this one has a hole in the side, you can take out some beads, I paid the extra $20 for this one. Nevertheless, I have never removed a single one. You make a great point. A softer sound is just achieved by tilting more slowly when I want fewer beads to roll around. One difference is that Meinl uses two types of beads round balls do not appear to be the only type. If you want a beach or ocean drum, I strongly recommend this brand. The high quality sound of this instrument is complemented by its exquisite aesthetics. A 20-dollar upgrade is most certainly worth it!.
Having removed all the beads, now it is just right! I wonder how it will sound with sand, since the beads make a sound similar to that of water droplets, not that it is bad, but I would like it if it was just pure wave noise. Still, I love this product! I love the way the beads whirl and it is so soothing to watch them move. Continuing to do it for hours would not be difficult for me.

Drums like this one are good for me. A damaged package arrived from Amazon, and they processed the return right away. Damaged had been caused by a few of the beads pressing upon the synthetic membrane when they got between the head and frame. That wasn't clear if it was due to a design flaw or whether it was just a one-time problem It was a one-off problem, but I ordered the Remo 22" Ocean Drum as a replacement and could not be happier with it.
