The Rovner V-100 is what I have been using In the last year, 1RL has used Versa Ligature for the Alto Saxophone. It seems that the tone I produce is more consistent with this ligature than any other plate or ligature I have used, and changing between the flat plate and V-shaped plate allows me to change the tone.
If you use a rubber alto mouthpiece, you will probably get better results than if you use a metal mouthpiece. A metal mouthpiece is more likely to fit a ligature that has a larger diameter, unless the ligature is particularly large.
Although the ligature works just fine when used in altissimo, I think the Vandoren M5 or Vandoren Optimum would be even better for using
According to me, it looks and feels like leather, which is extremely durable and flexible. This has been a great ligature for me in the past. As well as this, I use a Jody Jazz mouthpiece with my tenor.

A Rascher mouthpiece is attached to this and a Yanagisawa 991 alto sax is being used. My younger ligature replaces an older one which I bought used, but this Rovner Dark seems to be. The Rovner Versa thrilled me, and I could not be more pleased. I am amazed at the difference that a ligature could make. Notes on all scales seem to be playing more easily, and low and high notes seemed particularly effortless. As a result of how easy it is to play the sax now, and how great it sounds, I have never before enjoyed it so much. To date, I have only used the Versa as it came in the box (put it in setting "H" as directed on the supplied Ligature Guide--you need the fabric flaps over the cradle to hold.
I have been using the same Versa for several years with a Meyer hard rubber alto mouthpiece, and it has held up well. I love how easy it is to wear and adjust, and once it is in place, I have no problem keeping it in place.
This is a first-rate product.
One question, which has nothing to do with this product This is an accordion accessory, so why does Amazon list it as an accessory?.
The Alto Sax is a new instrument for me. Before I bought this ligature, I had no idea how much of a difference one could make. This is an excellent book!.
My background in saxophone dates back about 20 years, but I have played it on and off for years. Since I have been playing band and orchestra since high school, touring jazz groups, and playing in clubs for many years, I have used a lot of gear. When I first received this ligature, I was a little apprehensive about it, however I was extremely impressed with the improvement in my tone and control after using it. Sailing the saxophone recreationally is what I do and I have only been doing it for a year. As an upgrade from my stock alto ligature, I wanted to add this one. My sound has recently changed after using this ligature for the last month, making it much more smooth and accurate. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to improve their sound. A YAS-type stock is available for purchase I just replaced this ligature in line 62 with this one and it looks amazing. It's a dream to be able to strike the high and low notes It has made a big difference to my sound. There's just something about it that makes it You're so good at.
