Questions & Answers

Is this something I need to do with my Stratocaster bridge?

You tune to drop D as you would using a traditional tuner, but it is Your Strat will say pretty much in tune when you do that, and it will be no different with this. The tension on the 6th will be lost some on the floating bridges, and some of that tension will be transferred You will be unable to play chords because you will not be able to play chords It's quite in-depth You're in tune. It is possible to increase the stiffness of many bridges in order to make them more stable. It's not for everyone, so if you don't feel comfortable fiddling with the springs and removing stuff yourself, take it to a repair shop to learn how. A question that I have been asking for some time now- This is an answer for the future.

I talked to someone at factory who said they'd never heard of loose shafts on drop-d's before. I bought 3 drop-d's in the last year and had loose shaft issues on all three. Does that issue seem to be ?

Throughout the years, I have installed several GT1 and GT2 xtenders and have never encountered that problem.

A guitar with an acoustic pickup would this work?

I can see how this could work, but the gear is made as a direct replacement for an electric guitar that looks like a Fender - The guitar is not an acoustic.

Can this be done without drilling a new hole in a gibson sg? Do you want to go inside the feral and work there?

The only hole you will need to drill is a small one. You'll be able to do it

The switch to altered tuning is quick and easy
5/5

My question has been how well they work for years - Having waited so long to try it, I'll wonder for years why I didn't try it sooner. I'm sure you have struggled to tune your acoustic guitar while the drummer hits his snare or the bassist tunes the acoustic at earth-climbing pitch while you tune your guitar I am sure you will agree this little dude is a godsend with his massive volume! *If you play in both standard tuning and drop tuning at the same time You can use it on **), and you need to We'll both be glad if you do. Playing live*** offers a number of huge benefits, one of which is the switch from standard to drop In a fraction of a second, you can do D or B. There may be times when you need to adjust the calibration when you're in a new environment. There was a marked difference in the temperature of the room, as well as in the The upshot is that it's infinitely faster than a traditional tuning peg to switch on the fly. There have even been times when I have used it While prior guitar experience is definitely advantageous, for an installation to be straightforward, prior guitar work is not necessary. The first one took me a while because I was paranoid that I might ruin my instrument by picking every detail apart. The installation, however, is a pretty basic one If you have changed pickups or unpicked It will be easy for them to do this since their necks are already bolted. Over the past two years, I've purchased four HipShot tuners, and on every one I have had to remove the 5th tuning peg for sufficient room during installation, but I did it with a string change and had #5 and #6 off at the same time. In order to accept the mounting screw, I also had to drill a small hole for three out of the four. You will need to hold the thing steady, measure five times, mark your spot, and take a deep breath before you begin. I don't think there is anything to worry about. Don't go ***My acoustic guitar comes with a HipShot with two stops (you'll need the extra kit to use it, but it's relatively easy to add) The sound is on E, but drops to D or C (mostly for playing John Mayer's neon song). I have to give notes In the case of my other HipShot, I got them As the first offering from Amazon, this is a first. Be a bender! has the same appearance and quality as the other AFAs. My next step will be to edit as needed. It is - I edited - Despite the fact that it had to be reinstalled, it worked just fine. If you have a floating bridge (vibrato bar) then the tuner reduces the tension of your 6th string when it is active, thus affecting all the others. Either way, this shift cannot be changed regardless of whether you use a lever tuner like this or if you simply tune manually. But keep that Due to the fact that I never played the whammy bars on my guitars, I do not buy them anymore. It's so much easier to tune without them - In other words, HipShot raised the bar (yuk yuk) significantly. There is also an acoustic version available from HipShot, although this is specifically for electric guitars. There isn't much evidence that this would be practicable on a seven-inch tablet String, but I'm sure it would be acceptable. It would certainly affect how the dynamic between six and seven played out. However, you still would need a capo if you wanted to drone the open D). If you're on seven, you'd be a lot worse off. It is also easier to play at home, since you can see what you are doing.

It is nice to be able to go between standard and drop tunings with the Hipshot Xtender
5/5

Drop tuning a song or section of a song is the most efficient and accurate solution I have found. Acoustic guitar player introduced me to the Hipshot Xtender. I use it on electric, but I was introduced to it by an electric A large portion of his recordings and performances are devoted to it.

Definitely one of the best tunings for D
5/5

The Fender Acoustasonic Telecaster was used for the installation. Compared to the other tuners, this doesn't match perfectly, but is very only had to drill a little hole to get it to fit. The instructions are not clear enough to allow you to install this yourself, so you will probably need assistance from someone with more knowledge than you do. Put some grease on your nuts & bolts If it comes back sharp on the E, this is not the case. So far, this has been a great tool. This d tuner costs a fraction of the cost of a banjo tuner The same results are obtained. My concern was that the lever would be in my hand when I was in D but it will fold down out of the way.

This is a simple, quick, and accurate solution
4/5

Worked like a charm for me. Since I started using these 15 years ago, I've never changed. While mastering the technique to ensure that it does not come back sharp is certainly not easy, when one gets the hang of it it becomes second nature. As a result of the quality control, I took one star off. There have been a few that I have returned over the years because the pivot plate breaks over time. However, I have found the hip shot company to be very easy to work with and stands behind their product.

I realized there was a learning curve, but it was worth it in the end
5/5

It is not uncommon for us to switch between Drop D and standard. Having to put all the D songs in one setlist got old for me. I found this to be very It does take a little time to become accustomed to tuning it, but it's not difficult. There is more work to be done on the E than on You need to flip the lever back and forth repeatedly until you find E because when you think the lever is at E, you flip it down and back up, and it's really A feel is where you learn how to leave it flat after you flip it so it comes to pitch. Flip it down after that, and the tuning screw will let you know where the D is. In light of the lack of actual video for this, I was concerned it wouldn't get completely out of the way, so I made sure it turned down far enough. The answer is yes. This is a highly recommended product. As a bass player, I talked my bassist into getting one since we don't need to worry about him tuning up and down when I can do it in a jiffy.

I'm very pleased with it
5/5

The tuners are convenient because I do quite a bit of bending behind the nut on my guitars and I can get a drop D quite quickly.

I appreciate it very much
5/5

A lot of my time is spent playing Dota The tuning process. In the end, I tried Keith pegs, but they were difficult to install and look funny on my telecaster. It was very easy to use this tuner. Those grovers would be right at home with me. A little clip is at the end of the string, but it's not a big deal and you won't mind Even on stage, tuning it is quick and easy. Occasionally, it does go out of whack, but retuning it is not a problem. Then you have to tune it once you've got it right, and usually by starting to play, it keeps This is a great product for musicians who drop their E string a lot and I.
