Questions & Answers

In what respect do the x2 and xc models differ?

It is known that "C" stands for "cable" the xc model includes an extra cable that can be used to connect auxiliary sources such as MP3/CD players to the STX module. At both ends of the cable there is a 1/8 jack. A model of the x2 was released after Yamaha launched their SB1X Silent Brass for Tuba and SB2X Silent Brass for Euphonium models, which were released in Oct 2016 and March 2017. In order to accommodate these two new instruments, the STX module had to undergo some technical changes. Basically, the ******2****** stands for the STX module of the 2nd generation. This item is no longer available, as the xc units are obsolete. Now that the x2 units don't have the extra cable, they have the upgraded STX module instead. The Euphonium) to use with their

What is the Bluetooth capability of the silent brass mute?

I do not own a model that is

Could anyone tell me if there is a cable that can connect the Aux port to a USB port for a Mac? Is my daughter interested in recording her practice session?

No one I know of has ever

What do you think of the way the audio is coming out of the headphones, the right ear is louder than the left ear?

It is normal for that to happen. It is as if you listen to yourself more in your right(bell side) ear. The first few days were a bit odd, but you get used to it eventually. Some times I am only going to keep the right earbud in, in case I need to hear something in the house.

It's perfect if you want to be quiet, but you also need that natural horn sound
5/5

This is a good buy. THE UPDATE IS The mute I have owned for quite some time has caused me to have major intonation issues. I am as sharp as half a step when I use this mute now. The HALF, played in F with the OPEN horn. It makes sense that G2 and G3 will be released together I didn't know what to do because G3 were completely out of tune with each other. My first impression was that all open notes were in tune and the F horn was slightly out of tune when the mute was removed for tuning. In order to test whether the G3 would be adjusted, I tuned the F horn to the Bb flat horn, hoping to hear a change, but unfortunately, the G3 still sounded We need to start practicing again and maybe get the Shhhhhhh mute, or move or find a dedicated practice area. In any case, I just received the mute a couple of As I initially had a problem with the light indicator constantly blinking, it took me some time to set up. It was only after reversing the cable to the mute that I was able to solve my problem. When I put the earphones in my ear and ran a few scales, I was convinced that the mute wasn't working. There was no mute in my bell, so I couldn't hear myself speak. There was a high level of accuracy and clarity in the sound. Taking out the earbuds just to confirm that the mute was silent was a painful experience. I was playing a game in the next room over, but my spouse did not even know that I was. There is no doubt that this mute is The sound can be selected from two options. direct version where you simply hear yourself and one where you can hear yourself using an acoustic model. There wasn't a lot of natural sound in the acoustic option. Like playing in a small concert hall or church, it was like the size of a small concert hall. There is an extremely light weight to the mute. One time, it fell out of my bell, but it was only because I did not place it in snugly I enjoyed the set, but I was not pleased with the excess of wires and cheap earbuds that came with it. You can trade out the earphones for a more durable pair of your own -- the aux set is just a regular set. When I played, I noticed there were some intonation problems with notes that were very low and very high. If you want to sound these notes, you'll definitely have to change your embouchure. It feels normal to play middle octaves. The back pressure that was a complaint I read about was caused by In my experience, this version of the mute does not produce noise as it has been revised to offer a less restrictive air flow through it. If you have to practice in close quarters, this mute comes in handy. The use of this mute for every practise session is not recommended It has already been mentioned that the bottom and high range all have embouchure issues. I have found this mute to be a life saver. Do not hesitate to buy this mute if you are thinking of doing It would have been better if I had not waited so long to buy it. The degree to which I would have practiced more, if I had purchased this mute a few years ago. There is a current cost of $234 for this mute. The trumpet version, which is around $60, is a bit more expensive at $99. You won't have a problem saving $1000+ by buying this. It is the same size and cost about the same. If you don't mind the cost, buy this if you need a true silent mute. As of now, I do not think there is anything better available.

This Mute leaves me disappointed
3/5

I love this mute by itself because it's extremely lightweight, fits perfectly, and works great. As soon as the horn begins to play, it is almost silent. Despite this, the mute itself is not worth the There was a big disappointment in the electronic part of the test. Perhaps my expectations were too high for this product. The electronics work, but they aren't as good as I would have liked. Essentially, I found that the electronics in the headphones do not make the sound the same as if the mute were turned off. Simply magnifying the sound that passes through the mute is what the electronics do. When you increase the volume, you hear a lot of imperfections that you would not hear if the mute itself was not present. tested this on a multitude of headsets and it was the same in every case. In such a situation, practicing is very difficult. I was constantly taking off the headphones in order to hear how I sounded without them, and the difference was night and day. Because of how the sound and volume could be magnified when playing without headphones, I preferred not to wear them. In addition, I am disappointed that this mute is not compatible with my current There is no way to carry it around on its own or try to stuff it into another bag since it is so large. My experience was that this item didn't work well, was pricey, and didn't fit in my case. So, I returned it and purchased an inexpensive but compact mute that works just as well, is a quarter.

I think it's a good buy, it works well
5/5

The music director at my daughter's high school requires all the advanced band members to submit video clips every week. This is how he encourages the kids to practice, and he also verifies that they are doing so, since their grades depend on it. It's neat that for a French horn, I purchased this product for my daughter. She had to buy some additional accessories to make it work, but now she can plug it directly into her computer and record directly instead of having all the house noise and howling dogs echoing on the video. She also finds it helps her play since it allows her to hear what she is playing again since she wears her earbuds looped through the mute so the outside sounds do not interfere.

I am very pleased with my It's pretty cool to have a mute like this
5/5

It's usually more enjoyable to practice in my garage after my toddler goes to sleep and after my older children go to bed. The fun part may be doing that in the winter or in August, but to stay in my house I needed a solution. The Yamaha mute system for guitar is very quiet. I'm extremely pleased. The music is so quiet that you can hardly hear it. Also whatever back-ups there may be The old version looks like it was affected by some pressure issues, but this new version looks to have fixed that since then. You can practice with your headphones if that is the only option you have for practicing indoors, if you live in an apartment, etc. The audio will not be a perfect replica of your voice, but it will be good enough if that is your only option for practicing at home.

This is fantastic! I love how this works! I purchased the French horn version but I use it to play the Compared to a person humming, mute reduces the outside volume to a level similar to that of a humming machine

The volume of most people's conversations is much higher. When you listen to it through headphones, it sounds great. There is a condenser mic that plugs into the external pack through a 1/8" plug (supplied) before it connects to the Two reverbs can be chosen, one short and one with a long tail, both without fx bypass, but they sound awesome. In my imagination, the muted output would be perfect for recording with a line in/D I. It also has an aux input, so you can plug your phone in and listen to a metronome or a song due to the lack of separate audio controls, the volume is controlled by the phone. I would recommend it to everyone!.

I like the technology
5/5

It's very quiet. A piece of technology like this is very cool and I would have practiced more if I had had one when I was in High School. When the horn is played in this way, it sounds like the player is playing in a large room, so there is no sound for everyone in the house. While playing, there is a slight audio buzz, but it is not noticeable.
