Buying a French horn mute is an excellent way to hear your instrument. It's very affordable and works great. For traveling, I highly recommend this product, as it allows you to practice while staying in a hotel, with your family, or with You won't disturb anyone by the sound of your French horn if you use this mute, as it is so quiet! My French horn sounds different with the external case and without it. I wish I could upload an audio recording of those two contrasts. You can hear the difference it makes in the sound.
