The tone is great, and the tuning is also perfect! If you don't have time to insert and remove the mute for just one or two notes in a passage, or in places where you don't have time to insert and remove it, it's not so useful — as you said. There will be no other choice but to stop by hand. This is a wonderful tool for reading long passages. Then you can pull it quickly and let that dangle as you reinsert your hand to continue playing while you retract your hand because some kind of leash on the skinniest section would allow you to attach it quickly and use it without stopping.

I like the sound! It may not be the best stopping mute you'll ever see, but it provides a good sound, tune, and good price for the money you're spending on it
