This is a better sound than the old Stones CD I can play it on my pre-amp with no problem There is a decent tone and projection in the Elkhart Conn 8D. Definitely not too warm or 'tinny', but perhaps not has the depth to compare to a wood mute of a higher price tag. My only complaint is not about the mute itself, but about the lack of any strap that Denis Wick would provide. As you can see, unless you have a stand-clamp or another kind of mute holder, you have to pick up the mute by hand from ground or wherever doing so is a risky endeavor. A strap will probably just have to be made.
There is a lip around the large end of the mute that allows the mute to be tethered to your wrist. A string can be tied around the mute just beneath the lip, and a slip knot loop can be made with the other end to wear around the wrist. It works.
The brand is top quality, and the product is top rated.
A friend of mine gave my son this mute, and he loves it. He can play it on his French horn perfectly.
There's not much to complain about when it comes to the price of this The one she previously owned broke, and the new one is a lot better than the standard red/white.
My preference is for wood mutes, but these are definitely high quality, as well as reasonably priced. It's good for mules anyway (at least for horn mutes).
Compared to the red and white job that everyone seems to have, this is a really nice mute. Spend a little less money and buy this one first. You won't need another one.
It is very good in this game. The advertised product was delivered on time. Tuned very well despite its size. It is used to teach band and orchestra at the high school level.
