Questions & Answers

Is it possible to cook only one cup of rice with it? That is ideal for me, but I would prefer the 5. 5 c. size to accommodate guests. ?

Yes, you can cook a cup of rice. Make sure you use the exact amount of water that the scale in the cook pot indicates. For the rice, use the measuring cup that came with the rice cooker; I prefer to cook 2 cups of rice and keep the leftovers warm in the rice cooker for tomorrow's meal. The rice is still delicious.

Which brand is better, Tiger or Zojirushi, and what is the product number for a Japanese product? In our opinion, products made in China are inferior. ?

Since the day I bought it in September 2011, I've been using the Zojirushi brand. I've been using it almost every day for the past few months and have never had any problems. It continues to function flawlessly to this day. Given that I was never able to figure out how to set the clock on it, but that was entirely my fault. I'm afraid I won't be able to tell you which product number is made in Japan. I had no idea there were two different versions.

What country does this originate from?

The company is based in Japan. China is where the cooker comes from.

How long can this device keep rice warm before it spoils - Is it okay if I wear a brown top?

Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review. The NS- WAC18 is designed to keep rice fresh on Keep Warm for a maximum of 12 hours; however, to enjoy fresh and delicious rice, we recommend eating the rice within 12 hours.br>For more information, please contact Zojirushi America Customer Service at 1-888-Zojirushi. 800- 733- For more information, call 6270 or email [email protected]. com

Rice will last for several days if stored properly
5/5

Rice cookers were built differently many years ago, in my memory. You'd make rice, and it'd last for 24 to 48 hours, tasting and smelling exactly as it did the first day. However, rice cooker quality has deteriorated over time, and with this newer generation of rice cookers, the rice begins to smell and turn yellow the next day after being cooked. I know it's not recommended to keep rice in a rice cooker for that long, but that's how I grew up eating rice, and if it's still good, I'm fine with it being 2 to 3 days old and in the rice cooker. I've used a lot of rice cookers, and many of them have failed to meet my expectations. I ended up wasting a lot of rice because if you don't put it in the fridge right away, you won't have anything to eat the next day when I go to get some rice to eat. Imagine having the feeling that I'm serving you rice when you're in desperate need of it, but instead you're eating a sandwich. I feel as if I've been transported back in time when I use this rice cooker. I use this device to make rice, and the rice is still edible after two days. I'm confident that whenever I open the rice cooker lid, rice will be waiting for me. I'd like to express my gratitude to Zojirushi for producing a fantastic rice cooker.

Asians have given their approval
5/5

Since 1985, my family has owned a zojirushi, which died in 2014. As a result, the brand's dependability is demonstrated. There was no choice between the tiger and the elephant, and the elephant is Thailand's national symbol, so there was no bias. This features micom fuzzy technology and yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Unless you like your rice a little burnt, in which case, no more burnt rice. yeah. This can be used to make congee, fluffy Jasmine rice, sweet sticky rice, steam while making sweet sticky rice, carry it around like a lunch box, serenade you for 3 seconds when you're lonely, and give you a facial if you put your face over the steam.

It's the only thing I have that's absolutely perfect
5/5

Nothing in my life is perfect and nothing gives 100% if I treat it properly. Everything, everyone, fails me at times or falls short of my expectations. br>br>But not this rice cooker. br>br>If you follow the instructions exactly, it will work flawlessly every time, perfectly cooking every grain of rice. If only everything worked as well as this rice cooker. br>br>.

The rice cooker is small, easy to clean, and produces excellent results
4/5

However, there is a clock. My old rice cooker was simply too small for my needs, so I upgraded to this model. I was torn between 5 and 6 in terms of size. We debated between a 5 cup and a 10 cup capacity and decided on the 5. 5 cup was more appropriate for my requirements. I use a rice cooker on a regular basis for a variety of things, including: boiling eggs, cream of wheat, oatmeal, cornmeal porridge, steaming a small batch of potatoes, or simply heating up a can of baked beans are all options. The tune chime is charming to me (at least for the time being: )) and it's nice to be able to change it to a simple beep or turn it off. The unit is light but sturdy and has a convenient handle. br>br>I had to strike a balance between what I wanted and what I could afford, and the size of this cooker was exactly what I was looking for - I cook for three people and didn't need the 10 cup capacity because it's small and compact. It produces perfect rice with no scorching on the bottom. It's a lot easier to clean than my previous cooker. That was clearly considered when it was created. The timer, on the other hand, irritates me. I'm that passionate about it. br>br> Although it isn't a deal breaker, I am annoyed. I prefer a timer that allows you to easily set minute intervals, whether it's 3 minutes or 32 minutes. I could also use a 5-minute delay timer: I'll put it on at 00 and leave it on as long as I want. This timer only allows you to set an exact time in 10-minute intervals, as far as I can tell. So, if it's a two-digit number, it's as follows: I can't cook anything for 20 minutes because it's 3 p. m. I can only tell it to /done/ with rice at a specific time, which is fine for rice because it has those functions, but it's not ideal for hard boiled eggs. Just to be clear, the time is set in military time (24 hours) and cannot be changed. I'd prefer to be able to simply set it for 20 minutes and be done with it. Yes, I can use the quick cook feature and set an external timer, but that isn't my preferred method. br>br>Despite the fact that my cheap cooker had flaws, the ability to set the timer to whatever I wanted, in addition to the rice being pre-cooked, was a huge plus. The best feature of this product was the amount of time it took to cook. Of course, there was no way to set a delay time for it to turn on on its own, but I didn't find that I needed that feature. Even so, having both would have been ideal. br>br>A more expensive model with a steamer function and a steamer basket is likely to have the coveted flexible timer capability. It's a shame, because this is a fantastic machine, and the timer doesn't appear to be necessary in my opinion. br>br>Overall, I give this cooker my highest recommendation. All you have to do now is decide if you can live without the timer and if you can live with the fact that you won't be able to set the machine to turn off when you want it to.

I'd say if you are going to use this machine for rice only, it 100% is designed for that and you won not have an issue and you won not% If you make hot cereal on a regular basis or use it to steam eggs, the timer issue may be a deal breaker, so you should look for a different model.

Approved by a 100% real Asian Brutha from Another Motha
5/5

Mine was made in China and bought in the summer of 2021. But it's fantastic! I was worried that the fact that it was made in China and that "they don't make them like they used to" would be a deterrent, but it has received better reviews than newer models. Rice is set to "Regular" rather than "Extended" mode. After the rice cooker has finished cooking, it will be in regular mode. If you manually set it to extended mode to lengthen the rice, it will do so. The irony is that in extended mode, the rice will be more likely to yellow as the temperature drops. The manual should be read. br>br>It's been 98 hours since I put my rice in regular and it's still good to eat. However, keep in mind that this is with 2 cups brown rice and 3 cups white Jasmine (Budda brand) rice, so there are no watery smells or anything like that, but that'll probably be the upper limit of what I'm willing to do LOL. We usually finish the rice in two days, but it can take up to one day in some cases.

BTW, I'm 100% Asian and eat rice meals multiple times daily . Rice may be consumed only once a week or once a month by many reviewers. You definitely don't want to take "rice" advice from someone who doesn't eat rice on a regular basis, LOL. br>br>Decades ago, Tiger rice cookers were the shiznit, but they no longer make 'em. So far, this is the best rice cooker I've purchased. Also, when searching the reviews for "yellow," this rice cooker came up with the fewest results. As the years pass, I'll keep this updated.
