Selected User Reviews For Toshiba Rice Cooker 6 Cups Uncooked (3L) with Fuzzy Logic and One-Touch Cooking, White
I've owned three Zojirushi computers, a Tiger computer, and now a Toshiba computer. The Toshiba is the most advanced model so far. My most recent, a Zojirushi, had to be retired due to the bowl's deteriorating condition, which was missing a lot of teflon chips that I assumed I ate. I purchased the Toshiba after reading reviews that praised the bowl in particular. I can tell you that the bowl is two inches in diameter. The bowl was three times heavier than the one in my Zojirushi, and the entire cooker was built to the same high standard. A far superior product (the rice, by the way, is excellent and clean-cut). It's a breeze to set up. This book comes highly recommended.
But it wasn't until I started using this rice cooker that I realized how much better my rice could taste. My rice is not only evenly cooked, but it is also extremely fluffy. (Three Ladies Jasmine Rice is the brand name of the rice I use. ) My rice was still moist and fluffy the next day after being kept warm in the rice cooker for 24 hours. It's nice to have warm rice at any time. br>br>If you want a rice cooker that's simple to use, compact, and doesn't take up a lot of counter space (see photo for size comparison with my hands), and makes delicious fluffy rice, this is the one to get.
This is replacing a $30 unit I gave up on because it spewed starchy water all over the place while cooking. I received this as a gift, cleaned it according to the instructions, and tossed in some watered-down basmati rice, and was blown away by the results. This method produces perfect rice with no effort (no burning or additional water) and can feed a large family or a single guy like me for a week. I bought one for my parents, but my sister stole it; believe me when I say that this item is well worth the money.
For me, there is no life without rice. br>br>I chose this one because I grew up in a household where Toshiba was the brand of choice for the majority of our electronic items. br>br>In comparison to my old rice cooker, this rice cooker makes rice cooked in quick mode taste better. Porridge also has a better consistency. My old rice maker would make my rice super dry and turn into pebbles if I left it on warm for more than 5 hours, but this one keeps the rice as good as it was when it was first cooked, even after 15 hours. Advantages: br>br> br>Better rice/porridge qualitybr>Nice and slick design br>br>Con: if you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, this is not the place a tad on the large side.
All of the components for the rice cooker were packaged beautifully. I started cooking a small pot of jasmine rice after washing and assembling all of the components. My first issue: The instruction booklet is written in a clumsy manner. The proportions of uncooked rice to water are written in a cryptic manner. The measurement lines on the cook pot, which are reproduced in the booklet, aren't very useful. I'll probably have to cook and discard up to three pots of rice to figure out what proportions I should use for each of the rice types I use. My first batch of basmati, I'm guessing, didn't work out: a gooey, squishy mess TO ARRIVE AT A SET OF PROPORTIONS YOU LIKE, TAKE NOTES OF EACH TRY; other Toshibas have excellent User Manuals. I'm requesting one from Toshiba for this product, one that is written in proper English and includes clear proportions for each recipe. br>br>SECOND OBSERVATIONS: br>I've come up with an excellent (in my opinion) formula for NISHIKI Japanese style rice: simply add as much dry rice as you want (I like 1/2 cup) and then 1. It takes 33 times the amount of water to make the same amount of food. It comes out beautifully and without any issues. My next project will be SAM's ROYAL basmati rice.
I bought the Toshiba to give it a try because it has a quick rice function that can cook 6 cups of rice, and the function is simple and easy to use, except the display is difficult to see through the yellow or amber tinted cover. br>It's very consistent with the keep warm feature, and I can hear the power cut "Tick" noise indicating that the rice is kept warm. The time display aids in determining how long the process will take to complete.
I searched the internet for other recipes I could make in my rice cooker besides making 'perfect' rice and discovered many on Pinterest. My rice cooker is sleek and simple to use. I've steamed vegetables and baked cakes, and each time they've turned out beautifully. This purchase did not disappoint me in the least. It was a good investment.
It's fantastic! Rice is no longer scorched. It's only been used for white rice, but it's a great quick rice option! Cleaning is a breeze. br>br> I'd prefer if the parts could be washed in the dishwasher, but they're simple to wash by hand and will last longer that way. br>br>Power cord was stiff and short; fortunately, I have several longer power cords, so this wasn't a major issue.
