Questions & Answers

Is it a Japanese product?

Are you certain it's a Japanese product? On mine, there is a label that says Tiger Corporation Osaka, Japan, but the manufacturing label says Made in China.

Has anyone tried it with brown rice? There appears to be a brown rice selector. Thanks. ?

There is a brown rice selector on it. It says to use the "brown scale" on the pot to measure the amount of water to rice (the pot has a scale for each type of rice with a selector). This rice cooker was primarily purchased so that I could make brown rice, which worked out well.

Is there a way to set a delayed start or program it to start when you want it to?

Yes, Lola, the JAX-Framework is what you're looking for. A timer is included in Tiger's T10U - The following is a description taken from the manual: br>By using the Timer function (Timer 1 / Timer 2), you can set the time when the cooking will be finished. br>* Select "Timer 1" or "Timer 2" and set the desired completion time; the start of cooking will be automatically adjusted to ensure that the operation is completed at the time specified.br>* Each timer can be set to a different time. Breakfast is set to "Timer 1," and dinner is set to "Timer 2." br>* Memory will be used to store the preset timer settings. br>An example of a setting: If you set "Timer 1" to 13, you'll get the following results: At 13:00 p.m., the cooking will be completed.

I know it's a silly question, but is the "in done" tune just a "beep beep beep" or is there a song/melody?

A beeping sound can be heard.

It isn't a very good product
3/5

I liked the cooker the first year, but the second year the cooker button didn't work properly, and I had to push it twice to get my rice to cook, and the third year the layer inside the cooker began to peel. 😞.

The inner pot lasted for about two years and five months
3/5

After around 2 years and 5 months, the inner pot began to peel. Since I paid so much for it, I would expect it to last at least another 2 years and 5 months. I was completely let down. The rice and functions are satisfactory, but there will be no rice if the inner pot is missing.

Rice Cooker is fantastic
4/5

JAX (Tiger) T10U- K 5. Cup. To begin, let me say that this rice cooker is fantastic. I used to buy my rice cookers from Wal-Mart because they were cheaper. Mart or somewhere else, but I was hesitant to spend so much money. My mother insisted that it was worthwhile, and I had to agree. The rice comes out much better than it did in my previous rice cooker, which was a cheap model (possibly a Panasonic). I didn't realize how much I was missing until I tasted the rice that this cooker produced. br>br>There are many other reviews that go into detail about the pros and cons, but I'll list a few that influenced my decision. br>br>Featuresbr>Made in Japan - This is an example of subjective quality perception. br> Adjustable Cooking Time--the Zojirushi model I was comparing didn't have one, so this was a big plus for me. Consbr>- br>br>- br>br>- br>br>- br>br>- b Non- a power cord that can be retracted. br>- Lithium Battery (I hadn't given it much thought, but after reading the manual, Tiger claims that the battery lasts about 5 years and that you should have it replaced by an "authorized dealer. " I expect this to last more than 5 years, but I'm not sure what I'll do if the battery dies because I'm not sure where to get a replacement. I'll probably try it myself first, but if I'd known ahead of time, I'd have looked into other possibilities)br>- There is no condensation collector in this room. Every rice cooker I've ever seen or used has a small collector for the water that condenses on the lid's top, but this one doesn't! When the rice is done cooking, it is a little moistter than I prefer, but as it sits on the keep warm setting, it becomes perfect. There is also a small amount of residual water that drips when the lid is opened, which is inconvenient. This missing collector may be on purpose, but it comes as a bit of a shock to me. br>br>Summarybr>All things considered, this is a fantastic rice cooker that I would recommend to anyone who only needs a small amount of rice.

Up until last week, everything was fine
3/5

For the money, I expected this model to be my go-to rice cooker and workhorse for the rest of my life. The unit had been in my possession for exactly 5 years when it suddenly stopped working. It's been fantastic up to this point. But why spend all that money if you know it'll eventually break down? It appears that today's products are not made in the same way that they were in the past. (I know I sound like my mother, but she was absolutely correct!) Instead of contributing to landfill waste, pollution from production, and importation into this country, I'll stick to my stovetop method. Very let down. I'm going to request a replacement from Tiger. I'll update this review if they accommodate me.

It was well worth the money
5/5

After our 9-year-old traditional rice cooker (also from Tiger Corp) died, I went on the hunt for a new Japan-made rice cooker with more features, such as a timer, and a smaller footprint on my kitchen counter. I was in desperate need of a new rice cooker, and this new Tiger model fit the bill perfectly. It's equipped with a microcomputer and two timer settings, and it perfectly cooks brown rice. It had various settings for different grains of rice, cooked porridge, and had a slow cooker function. Rice doesn't stick to the bottom of the pot because of the Teflon coating, and rice doesn't stick to the scooper because of the tiny nubs on the scooper. The instruction manual is comparable to a cheesecake factory menu.

rice cooker is a machine that cooks rice
3/5

I like the rice cooker, but it takes a long time to cook, and the rice spoils the next day when I leave it in the pot overnight due to excess moisture in the pot after cooking. Given that it was Tiger brand, I was a little disappointed.

It's a lot easier for me now to eat healthy
5/5

The rice cooker is fantastic. The measurements on the inside of the bowl are accurate and helpful when attempting to get the water: Although I use the finger method and it works for me as well, the rice ratio is correct. The steamer basket is my favorite feature of this rice cooker. I like to steam salmon and vegetables in it, and it always turns out perfectly (I set the steamer to about 15 - 20 minutes). 20 minutes (depending on the size of the fillets)br>br>Just get it. It'll last a lifetime and always produce perfect rice!.

The way
5/5

It reminds me of Japan when it cooks rice. You will not be dissatisfied with your purchase. After visiting Japan at least once a month, I've finally discovered a rice cooker that can prepare rice in the Japanese style. Rice cooked in a traditional rice cooker or over an open flame has never tasted as good as rice cooked in this rice cooker. You can taste the rice, especially if it's Thai jasmine rice, and you can even eat it by itself. This is truly exceptional. I'm thinking about getting a larger one for family gatherings and a smaller one for just two or one person. If the Tiger company sees this, I'm hoping they'll send me a product to try out and review. I'm also looking forward to experimenting with the product's other cooking options.
