Because the tagine is so expensive, I purchased a disfuser as a precaution. However, until the disfuser arrived, I was able to cook successfully with the tagine on a gas stovetop.
We didn't, and it's been flawless. It's an excellent kitchen appliance.

This Tagine was purchased in 2016 and has performed admirably for me. I tried another brand that required a diffuser, but it didn't work on my glass-top stove. The Emile Henry, on the other hand, does not require a diffuser and can be used on the stove or in the oven without difficulty. It can withstand temperatures of up to 500°F, but I always slowly heat it up to ensure proper care. It's great for baking bread if you don't have a Dutch oven, and it also makes great tagine recipes. To summarize, I adore this object and intend to keep it in my kitchen for many years.
We wanted a tagine after spending three weeks in Morocco, so we could make some of our favorite Moroccan dishes. br>br>For a variety of reasons, the Emile Henry model is ideal. To begin with, there isn't any. Second, because it's sealed, it's simple to clean. Third, on a gas stove, it can be placed right over the flame. br>br>Begin by seasoning it with milk that has been gently heated. It's important to keep an eye on this process because it's easy for the milk to boil too quickly, spill, and make a big mess.
This Tagine cooks beautifully in the oven and even better on the stovetop without the use of a diffuser. It won't catch fire. I keep it out on my stove top because it cleans like a dream and the shape is so appealing, almost like artwork.
Once a week, we now eat tagine! With recipes found online, I've had success with chicken, lamb, and fish; be sure to get the heat diffuser as well. I would strongly suggest it.
amazing! definatly larger than expected, fits perfectly on the stove burner, good for feeding 3 people, make sure to clean with baking soda or vinegar if you find certain food smells in the pot, will remove it immediately. No seasoning or infuser is required for use on a gas stove. Highest quality product; I've cooked gumbos, tandoori, and multiple stews with it so far, and it's been fantastic. Look good on the stove as well.
To demonstrate, the wife keeps it on the refrigerator. Looks fantastic. The wife proudly displays it on the fridge. It takes a few attempts to become accustomed to it. Layer the vegetables on top of the food. Don't forget to drink plenty of water. Instead of a sear, it produces a stew. Cooks quickly or slowly, depending on your preferences. For the three of us, it's a great deep size. It's quick to clean up. I would purchase this item again. Colors are very close to what is shown in the photo.
It's the ideal size for meals for two people.
