Questions & Answers

There are a lot of negative Those new ones seem to be 1/8" thick and good quality, but are they ?

The screw checker actually only has a zero on it. The thickness of this layer is 80 mm, which is substantially It is 125'). Steel is the material used for it. I found it to be extremely useful for what it was intended for. Still, the product specs need to be revised to reflect its actual capabilities.

Does this tool work for machine type screws and bolts, or can it also be used to apply screws to wood, steel, and sheet metal? As I read one review, it seemed to be a fact. ?

The screws that my husband uses on wood and sheet metal are made from it. Having it in his shop is a big plus.

Could you please provide a chart to compare pop rivets to bolt sizes?

Do you need to replace a bolt or screw with a Pop Rivet of what size? There are usually two ways to specify pop rivets. It refers to the size of the opening that is drilled in two or more components (or perhaps more) for us to install them into. In addition, the "grip range" or dimension of the thickness of the two pieces being joined must be considered as well. For example, if you want a Pop Rivet to replace a bolt or screw, measure first the diameter of the hole (you can use a dill bit for this if you don't have other tools) and then the thickness of the parts you want to join. It's a good idea to remember that once you Pop Rivet something, you can only remove it by drilling out the Rivets.

Can you tell me if the numbers are printed on top of the metal or if they are engraved?

The thing comes in a nice clear plastic envelope, and I keep mine in that envelope, and it looks very much like the print is on the surface, perhaps with epoxy ink, but I'm unsure. Since I do not use it all that frequently anyway, It can be used with most screws, but if I don't, it is a great tool to have on hand. The printing might be lost if you don't make a copy when you first get it, but you might Xerox or scan it instead, and keep a copy somewhere safe.

I am NOT talking about 1/8" thickness here
3/5

It is very confusing to me to read the description of this product.

1. As stated in the description, the item is made of a heavy gauge of 1/8 inch satin chrome plated steel. I am telling a complete and utter A thickness of about 1/16" would be more accurate. The second paragraph. This item ships with a protective carrying case that protects the product from damage. What do you mean by this word game? Basically, it's just a plastic bag with a zip at the top, which is the standard packaging for most things Does this sort of thing have the term "carrying case" attached to it? It is also very confusing to see the numbers on the actual product. I returned this product because I feel I was tricked into buying.

I highly recommend this software
5/5

It is very simple Take the time to read the instructions. The concepts are not rocket science, but if you don't understand how to use them, then they won't do anything for you. * This does not cover every possible screw threading and it does not have metric measurements. Although it is limited to the SAE threadings common in the United States, it does cover the most common threading in the USA. The purpose of this device is to test screws by using only the fingers. In case you cannot ***EASILY*** push it through one of the diameter sizing holes, then use the next hole down from that size. If you need to use a screwdriver to turn a screw onto a thread, then you're doing it wrong. Take your time and don't overthink things. Make sure you don't force any screws. Press your finger against the screw ONE TIME ONLY.
If the threads on the screw are good, you should be able to screw it all the way through the steel plate by hand. ***If you use a screwdriver to crossthread the steel plate ***almost all the way through*** the screw by hand, but then stops, then the steel plate will come undone. There was a 1 star review for one of these that said it was useless due to its inaccurate measuring scale at the top. I measured mine just for a laugh The measurement was not accurate by more than 1/32 of an inch. This is a totally insignificant thing! NASA is the only one that measures screws closely. There are some people who should not be allowed to have There is only one negative - the steel markings are silk screened on the surface. It should last for years if you always keep it in a plastic bag, such as the one that it came in.

I have a few concerns about the #8 32/36 tpi
5/5

I needed an inexpensive screw thread checker to help me restore some equipment I was refinishing when I was stuck at home. Overall, I find it to work well for the sizes I require (usually #10 or smaller). There is nothing above #10 that I have tried. There were some concerns raised by reviewers about cross-references I found it to be easy to thread the screw into the checker if it was the correct size and would bind if it was the wrong size. The only concern was the #8-inch screws. -32 verses #8-32 There are some screws that are #8-size on my shelf In both these holes with 32 and 36 tpi, the threads threaded into the holes without binding. Due to the fact that I don't normally use 36 tpi threads, it isn't a bother for me, but I noticed that both holes appeared to be 32 tpi.

Although not perfect, this is a very good work
5/5

As a starting point, let me ask this question I want to describe it in the following words NOT The standard measurement is one quarter inch (. 125"). Is a). You can see that The thickness of the steel sheet is 7. 5 inches, or 14 gauge. It's easy to use an Amazon description that seems thin, but is still helpful. PEC Tools also has the 5114 inch screw checker for metric format for $10 more, which has the same thickness. I've looked around and I don't think anyone makes a plate this way It is unlikely that it is plastic unless it is thicker than this. Although the notations on the front are a little strange, if you follow the accompanying guide, you should be able to understand them. PEC has an easier layout on their version, but it does work once you get used to the layout. Although it feels a little oversized, the drilling clearance hole column appears to be accurate, though the threaded holes seem to be fine. Unfortunately, I do not have anything to measure them with here in quarantine. The plating process did leave some rough edges, but nothing like the flashing visible in the photos taken by another reviewer. As another reviewer noted, the "Protective Plastic Carrying Case" that appears in this review is nothing more than a heavy Ziploc. Perhaps it could be beneficial to protect the painted markings if you plan on packing it in a toolbox and carrying it around? Even if you just place it by the hardware drawers in the workshop, there is no need for a carrying case. Overall, it performs all of the tasks I need it to Sizes SAE screws to the nearest tenths of an inch. It would not be appropriate to view it as a tool for cleaning rusted or mashed threads. While the PEC Tools 5112 is probably more expensive, it's probably of higher quality than making it myself, and I'm already having trouble justifying not making it.
