So far, everything has gone well. Although it has yet to be put to use, I took it to work and put it through its paces in the calibration lab. I zeroed it on a granite surface plate and checked for accuracy over its 1" range with various sized calibrated gauge blocks. It was used in every block and read exactly as it should have. The blocks that were used were calibrated; see the table below for a comparison. The number 0 appears on the surface plate.

Excellent depth gauge with useful attachments for accurately measuring difficult-to-reach areas.
Dead- precise against the setup bars on my Kreg router table; I put 1/2", 1/8" and 5/16" to the test. I have two issues: br>br>I have two issues: The first is that the read-through is a time-consuming process. Unless you read it straight on (as shown in the pictures), out is extremely difficult to read. It would be better if it had a back-up camera. To add contrast and readability, light should be used. The second issue is that the case is poorly designed, and some of the tips become loose, and you can inadvertently turn on the gauge when closing the case due to the small space between the lid and the on button. It's not a big deal because I'm going to make my own case.
IGaging has apparently read the feedback and made the necessary adjustments. Both batteries were separated from the indicator when I received mine, so they couldn't discharge during storage or transit. I despise using and reading regular depth gauges, and instead of reading the instrument, I prefer to use a digital caliper to quickly measure the rod. I can take measurements in a fraction of the time it used to take me before using this tool. The unit also includes a HOLD button, which keeps the reading static (unchanged) until the next reading is taken. The cost is also significantly less than that of the competition. This is a must-have!.
This tool has so far impressed me with its accuracy, repeatability, and flexibility. Most of my tools are Mitutoyo, and while this one doesn't feel quite as good, it does the job and is significantly less expensive. This purchase has exceeded my expectations.
The only problem is that when you close the lid, the foam insert for the top cover presses the On/Off button, which I don't like because I'm not a machinist. As a result, it's almost always dead. The solution is to cut out the foam insert in the lid so that the buttons are not surrounded by foam. The button indentations in the foam indicate where the foam should be removed.
It arrived in a plastic case with several attachments neatly packed inside. Although the battery was dead, it came with a spare. It's very simple to use, and I like that it converts your measurements for you. Accurate and very good at holding zero. There is a micro USB port on the side, but I'm not sure what it's for.
Great price, but I'm having some trouble getting it to zero and staying there; perhaps it's just me.
