It took me a smudge to figure out what the max travel is with the mic out of the box, installing the 4 inch pin and comparing my mic to my gauge block. By setting the bore gauge to 4, I was able to zero the bore gauge. I know I have 4 bores from this gauge. The bore was checked and saw no signs of the taper on round 001. This is my first purchase and I am very happy with it. I am reringing the motor as I type. It was worth the forty dollars. Get one, you won't regret it. I would like to recommend it to all my engine building relatives and friends. To set it up correctly, you just need a micrometer/precision calipers and a gauge block. If you don't have them already, look into a Zeiko 8" caliper and maybe a 123 block with good reviews if you don't already have them.
