Plastic inserts for a low price? Mitutoyo tools are among my favorites, and I own a number of them

I recently purchased the. 700- 6" bore gauge set, and as usual, I'm happy with the tools, but not so much with the new packaging, which includes cheesy plastic inserts that will only last a week. The package shown in the photos is not at all what it appears to be.

This is of excellent quality, as are most Mitutoyo tools. The four stars are due to the fact that the dial indicator that came with my set is extremely sticky, which means I now have to deal with Mitutoyo customer service, which is a pain.

Dial Bore Gauge, 932, 0. 7"- Range of 6" is 0 Graduation, /- 0001" For a year, 0008" Accuracy has demonstrated excellent precision measurement. My company's quality control people even borrow it from me. br>The only thing that might make you nervous is the list of size ranges paper, which I scan and save on my PC and keep on hand just in case. I don't care for the plastic case; for something worth $1,000, I'd prefer a wooden case with velvet lining. That is why I deducted one star.

Pay attention to the guidelines

The other reviewer who stated that this case only goes up to 4 inches is incorrect; to get to 6 inches, you must use the spacer/extension located in the case's bottom right corner. br>br>This is about as good as a bore gauge gets, and Mitutoyo is the best in the business. br>br>Be sure to read all of the instructions.

This is not the entire collection! Only up to 4 inches

Overall, the tool is very useful. Until you need to measure a bore larger than 4 inches, that is. The No. 1 and No. 2 probes are the most powerful in this set. 511- As a result, you can only measure a maximum of 4 dimensions. 146". Although the image accurately depicts what is included, the claim that this set can be extended to 6" is false. Now I'll have to go out and get the bigger probes.
