When the unit is turned off, I don't believe there is any battery drain. If you aren't going to use the caliper for a long time, it's best to remove the battery. There is no data in memory that I am aware of. Should you make contact with the vendor?
In terms of the battery, I'm not sure. However, I've had mine for a little over a year and have yet to replace the battery.
Underneath the protective plastic, the bubbles can be seen. The plastic is supposed to be removed.
The maximum measurable size is 150mm (6 inches), with the same inside diameter, outside diameter, depth, and steps.

Is quite precise. When dealing with fractions of a millimeter, it's best to take several measurements. I've found that all of my micro measuring equipment varies by a few hundredths of a millimeter, so I average the smallest measurements. If it shows 00, I like that I can calibrate it by pressing the caliper down to "zero. " If it stays at 00, I can squeeze it together a little tighter. 01, I can make my desired "absolute zero" by pressing the "set to zero" button. This is especially useful if you know the exact diameter of the item you're measuring and want to create a true/reliable 00. Using the create zero button, set the value to 00 mil. The hundredth of a mil will vary slightly depending on how hard YOU like to pinch an item (between the jaws) while measuring it. If you like to clasp an item tightly or prefer softer pinching/measuring pressure, the hundredth of a mil will vary slightly.
So, first and foremost, I work in a welding shop, and my measurements must be precise. With these, my quality department was unable to calibrate them for use in the shop (defects in the calipers prevented an accurate calibration), and the photo provided shows that the inner diameter gauge has a slight bend in it. Second, the depth guage has a curl, so it can't be relied upon to provide accurate depth readings.
After purchasing a 3D printer, I discovered that I would require calipers. As a result of my search, I came across these. There are no loose parts because the product is made of solid metal. They'll stay in working order thanks to the case, and the batteries will last a long time. I'd say that I'd buy it again. But I shouldn't have to because these are going to last me for a long time. Today was a good day for shopping.
I occasionally have to take a second or third measurement just to be sure, but it is extremely helpful. This is the one for you if you don't need perfect measurements and don't mind paying a little extra.
nice and heavy and easy to use, now to see how long the battery lasts,, my other set used to eat the battery and it would turn off,, only way to keep it on was to keep the battery out until use,, couldn't find them in my garage so bought these,,need the metric also,, good to go. and a spare battery, which isn't as easy to replace as the first but doesn't cause any issues.
This was purchased to support my wife's hobby of making jewelry. It's great for sizing beads and spacing them out. As other reviews have stated, there are no issues with the battery. Simply use a rubber band to secure the calipers in contact with one another and keep them that way during storage.
This was intended to be a replacement for a previous plastic model. This one has gotten a lot of love from my boyfriend. It's well-made and has a locking knob, so it won't move around on you and cause errors when you're measuring. Plus, unlike the other, it has a depth probe.
