What benefits can you gain from a 4" caliper over one that is ?

This allows portability. You will also be asked to claim any tools that are too long if you are traveling with them.

When they encounter strong magnetic fields, what effects do they experience?

There have been no issues for me. My fake, however, is, in my opinion, a very good one. The mititoyo is not the real thing. There are some essential differences between those I have observed and those I didn't observe. Keep an eye out for danger.

What is the guarantee from Amazon that these are Mitutoyo products and not Chinese knockoffs? Is it true that calipers with "made in Japan" markings are shipping from China?

My 99 years are not good enough to detect legit equipment, but I'm decent at spotting it. I am almost 100% certain that mine is the real thing.

What benefits can you gain from a 4" caliper over one that is ?

Compared to the 6" the 4" is smaller and fits into more places. In the last 30 years, I have used almost exclusively the 4" and 12" dial calipers. I own four other dial calipers, but I primarily use the 6". I only purchased the 4" and the 12" digital versions from the digital version so that I could cover all the options.

Don't miss out on the 6 This is the size of the model, not the size of the 4 Measurement in inches
5/5

As I viewed Mitutoyo's offer, I was impressed by it The diameter of the caliper is inch. That is awesome! It doesn't matter if I measure just a few inches or less, do you think? My Chinese tool importer sells digital calipers for $19, so this will be perfect. And this Mitutoyo must be more accurate and consistent than the ones I get from my local Chinese tool supplier. Despite what I thought, I wasn't mistaken It is a thing of beauty, the Mitutoyo. Although picking up the 4-corner is a bit harder than picking up the 3-corner In the model, adjusting the jaws to two inches and holding it, one realizes the bar at the end digs into the back of my hand. And believe it or not, the edges are The fact is, she's very sharp. It is divided into six parts It would hang off my hand if I held the 4-inch model. It is very painful to use the inch model. I'll survive.

One of the things I like about this Mitutoya is that it does not forget Whenever I use cheap digital calipers, it seems like I need to do things all over again They have to be zeroed every time, otherwise the readings will be incorrect. With this Mitutoyo, that's not the case. went back to dial calipers because I find them more Having a length that long in your hand means you can take most measurements with that. In spite of this, Even the four out of five A model with a height of 12 inches The world is a wonderful place. Does not read all the way through.

This compact caliper comes in a fat body There has been a lawsuit filed
4/5

With only one star in its case, this is a 5 star measuring tool. As expected from Mitutoyo, the caliper has an aesthetic design, precise measurement performance, and a certified calibration. Despite its high price, this is a reasonable deal. I am glad to see that it is manufactured in Japan as well. The fact that that happened surprised me. However, the case still stands. There is an enormous amount of it. In any case, it would claim a lot of space in the tool box if this were a 6" caliper. Nevertheless, they ship this 4" clamp in a case that can hold a 6" caliper! Because Mitutoyo isn't selling the 6" and 4" models at any meaningful price difference, I think it'd be reasonable of the company to infer that many/most people are buying these 4" models There is so much good stuff they make - Isn't it possible to get a smaller case molded? Is it cheaper to buy small cases from the multitude of companies that produce 4" calipers at an affordable price? A $25 Chinese caliper is being replaced by this Mitutoyo brake Though it is not much of a measuring device, its case fits the device well. I docked one star because I thought it was so dumb/lazy/cheapo/etc.

The products Mitutoyo produce are of good quality
5/5

Tools that are good always pay off for the professionals. Here is a photo of my new 4" Mitutoyo caliper next to my "old" 6" dial caliper. Both are in front of my 1934 built Gerstner machine shop chest. I bought the Mitutoyo 6" dial caliper in 1983 in order to take a few machine shop classes. In addition, I worked with many engines and decided that a dial caliper was absolutely necessary. This caliper has been my go-to measuring tool in the machine shop and on the engine bench for almost 40 years. I've been using it as a constant travel companion ever since it made its debut in 2001 and took part in over 1,200 trips. Over 5 million air miles have been flown. In recent months, I have been making more use of my small machines (Sherline mill, Taig lathe, Grizzly micro lathe). In the travel bag and near the machine tools, I thought it was time to have a caliper on hand. After using Mitutoyo products for over four decades, I never needed to switch to another brand. You can find a variety of affordable items (usually from China) as well as some more expensive items (Starrett "real" products). Nevertheless, Mitutoyo is still offering a quality product at a reasonable price (especially given the fact that it is Japanese built). Furthermore, I expected the fit, feel, finish and accuracy to be the same as Since I am an old human, I was hesitant to go digital since I could not find a 4" dial. However, at the end of the day, I decided to give this one a shot. Thoughts are cool. The unit is cool. It was well maintained and oil was added as if it had been used for years. It shouldn't be loose, it can't have burrs or tight spots it just has to feel and look right. The feel of a measuring tool is something you expect to have as you work with it a lot to help ensure your accuracy. Out of the box, this software is in line with any I have used in the past. My expectations were exceeded in how well it was balanced. As a result of the tight spaces I encounter with my tiny machines and small material I deal with, a 4" fit my needs the best. Although I was concerned that these would not "lay in the hand" like the 6" it is, I still thought they would be fine. It is a non-ideal piece of equipment because of its materials and weight Here's the problem. Using 3/8" would have been too easy for me to use, but the 4" was just right for my needs. In addition to digital calibration, the LCD's brightness and the ease of replacing the battery, they are all a good combination. As a matter of fact, neither the form nor the function of this item disappointed me. Yellow stripes could be omitted from the picture, but that is just an opinion rather than something that is needed for this function. As I measured a few test blocks, I found accuracy to be spot on. I found that my armatures were less than when measured with both indicators. It is a difference of 1" between them. A stable and instantaneous readout was obtained. After a few days of reading the dial instead of counting, I was surprised how easily I was able to adjust. The purchase was a good one for me in summary. This was not a problem for me as I was prepared not to like the length (balance) and I was concerned about Additionally, these represent what makes the unit the best. In 50 years, if the digital holds up as well as the dial, I (or my heirs) will be able to use it. Feathers of great quality- This is a great feeling The perfect fit for your application - Quality products have a long life, and that's why professionals buy them. On the photo a note. This Gerstner chest is the result of an auction I won. The owner of a small rock quarry died and the quarry was going to be sold. I found his machine shop to be The drive-line tools are all in excellent condition, but have been used regularly. Sad to say, most scrappers ended up buying them. There were still a few tools in the chest when I purchased I had Gerstner perform new felt work, chrome work, leatherette and other services at their plant in Dayton, Ohio, a few years later. There was no need to treat the wood in any way. Their findings (the numbers and marks on drawer bottoms) date it to 1934. Having been used as a working chest since then is something that we are proud to claim. My first encounter was with the quarry, then I met with you. We are not far from getting to the point where it will have been in use for 100 years, another proof of the value of quality tools. Being able to use the digital caliper in this chest as it nears 100 years of service makes me feel more as a "steward the chest" than the owner of it. It may seem unrelated to the review, but it is an aspect of my view about a life spent working to build and use skills, as well as enjoyed what good tools can do for.

I like the case, but where is it? It was the compactness of this shorter 4" caliper that drew me to it
3/5

However, the case it comes in is for a full-blown arrest This model has an overall height of 6 inches. Is there any point to all of this? There is no difference in the amount of space it takes up It is a pity that the case fails to do justice to the calipers.

When compared with everything else, it feels useless
5/5

Even non-alcoholic beverages are unacceptable to me A digital caliper by Mitutoyo. Everything else by comparison seems like junk in comparison, because these are so well made and work so well. We've found that these jaws don't wear out nearly as quickly as cheap ones - There is no place for them to lose. I find this caliper to be the best- The cost is worth it if you think about it this way US watchmaking school was a great experience for me. This is the only series of Mitutoyo digital calipers that were used there. These are also tools I use every day as a machinist. The money they earn goes directly into their pockets. There's no point in looking at anything else, the jaws will prematurely wear out from all the junk.

Adapted to the needs of the shooter, accurate and reliable
5/5

Earlier today, I received my copy. There's a "Made in Japan" sticker on it. I think this is a much more reliable/accurate caliper than many others on the market for a low price. Even though it is expensive, it's a good investment in a useful tool. The only issue is that you need to be very careful to place the (+) fully face up so that the SR44 battery will work properly. Unless you install it one way or the other, it is very difficult to remove it.

Dedicated to professionalism
5/5

For several years, I used a cheapo digital caliper with a 4" measuring range. It takes a very short time for the battery to be consumed. As I was changing out the umptheanth battery, one of the contacts broke, and that was it for me. There is no doubt that the battery lasts a lifetime in the Mitutoyo, and the large display is easy to read. You're the best. The book would have been much better if I'd purchased it sooner.

It is a pleasure to work with a caliper of this size. The same product is already available in a 6", but I wanted something that could fit into smaller spaces. My experience with the product has been excellent, and I would buy it again if required.
