Neither item belongs to me, but I own both. Although I have never tried cutting through leather, I think the Raptor is better at cutting difficult items than the XShears. It is true that the Raptor is an excellent product, but the articulated handles make cutting difficult items more difficult than cutting with XShears and Raptor are both good products, the Raptor is more compact and easier to carry, while the XShears is perfect for cutting difficult items with dedicated tools.

Yes, I understand. The blades are powerful and can cut through rope, seatbelts, and even tough clothing.
Although I do not have a way to measure their resistance, they don't have as much resistance as the trauma shears we use in the hospital. Naturally, the type of material to be cut will have an effect on how strong your hands need to be, and how easy or difficult it is to cut with scissors. I will say, however, that these cut through denim just as readily as

Over the past few decades, I have advocated for the use of shears over knives for rescue work. Imagining you are in that situation, floating in the water with me, or hanging from a rope high above the ground. Do you honestly want to see a blade in my hand while we are both stuck and struggling? Is there anything particularly pointy (stab) or serrated (slice) you are drawn to? There is no. Although most EMT shears are underpowered to handle heavy jobs, others are quite powerful. This pair of XSHEAR Extreme Duty Shears I purchased yesterday arrived today and I put them to the test immediately. They cut through 1/2 " thick mantle rope rated for climbing and rappelling with only a Ropes that were under tension as well as ropes that were slack were cut. Webbing was cut with a much cleaner cut than I have ever seen before. . . cleaner than razor blades. In spite of their rarity, ropes are available in stores A cutting tree rescue is carried out by cutting the middle rope from a tight group If you use a wicked serrated knife, it will help cut heavy ropes incredibly quickly, but you may also pull another rope with it or even cut yourself or the person you are trying to rescue with it! Whatever, I am carrying these. You carry what you want, but I'm carrying these! I may end up buying a second pair as a component of my SCUBA equipment as they are stainless steel! The advantages of rescue knives beyond the fact that they are the right tool for the job are that they are cheaper than most other types! *A+**** AWESOME Review*
Hope all of you are having an excellent day! I was showing these to my friend last night, and his young children were anxious to take Throughout the process, I held a piece of rope while dad checked to make sure the little guy's fingers were safely in the Despite his pleas, we did NOT squeeze him! The five-year-old had to use both hands, but he cut a 1/2-inch kernmantle climbing rope with both of them! The quality of these shears is incredible! The fact that I can cut something right handed behind my back even if I am upside down proves I am stronger than a five year old! I think this is a great thing.
Cutting almost anything is no problem for these tools. It is a great product and a fair price. Get them, you will not regret it. A brief update I loaned these shears to the Trauma Surgeon so he could crack open someone's chest after General Surgery. I cut off that whole piece of carpet with my shears later the same week when I found a spot in my carpet where my cat had been "marking" it repeatedly. Moreover, with these trauma shears, a chest can be cut open and carpets can be cut without any problems. I hope that will serve as an indication of their quality.
There is a problem with the center bolt of the XSHEAR, because it is TOO tight, making the opening and closing cutting motion difficult or uncomfortable. It would not make a difference for a quick cut, but I could conceivably get a hand cramp from using these shears for a long time due to the fact that they are so thin. I only use my trauma shears for clothing and bandages, as well as some "light" work, but perhaps these shears are worth the cost (and weight) if used for tougher material such as thicker rope, but I have that experience to report. The value rating is 5 out of 5, and the quality rating is A five-star deduction is due to the tight bolt in the center.
It's been the past week since I've been using my XSHEAR in the Emergency Department and on the field and what I've realized is that these seemingly plain looking shears cut through everything like a hot knife through butter without a single trace of resistance. Although, when I first received these in the mail I was skeptical about their effectiveness because they seemed quite stiff. They also didn't seem very special compared to Leatherman Raptor shears with all their OH MY GOD, I WAS It was astonishing to see how easily these cut through different kinds of clothing fabric and shoe material when I first had to use them. Now that I have worked in the E for a while, I am delighted to see what the E has to offer. Whenever I'm at home, my Raptors are there. As a summary, here are a few reasons I appreciate the XSHEAR I like how simple they are, how easy they are to cut, how they fit in the pocket of my EMS pants, and how bright they are!.
There are no words for how awesome these shears are. He's beefy, he's built like a tank, and he's The next pair I buy will definitely be a pair like this one! In addition, I purchased the Spanker shear pouch (molle compatible), and the Xshears fit perfectly in it.
