The bottom blade is 2 1/2 inches from pivot to point, according to the measurements I took for you. I have to change bandages on a daily basis, and these are excellent.

It was used to slit gauze and cotton underwrap. During the process, one of the blades broke off! It's also my first use of it. What you pay for is exactly what you get. I wouldn't put my trust in it to cut through more than a few layers at a time.
I really like how they have a clip on them; it's very handy. I've put them through their paces on a variety of materials, and so far they've performed admirably. I'd say they're very good at cutting through fabric and denim. These are a good product for the price, and they are comparable to the more expensive varieties. This is a product that I would recommend to my fellow first responders.
I bought them in a bright pink color to make them more difficult to lose. As soon as I got to work, I decided to try cutting a penny like the advertisement suggested. The penny was cut, much to my surprise. In any case, they're reasonably priced and attractive.
