Questions & Answers
As long as you are using the ST series Weller tips, you can use both the WLC100 and the replacement iron SPG40. As I do a lot of larger solder connections, I typically use the ST4 instead of ST1, ST2, ST3, etc.
The tip is held in place by a small screw.

Weller can offer you a better cord with more flexibility, but for now, this will do. Option best suited to your budget. Extra tips are available for purchase. The following update has been made During soldering, they use plastic for the insulator that attaches the metal element, but it has a low temperature, so if there is any load applied during soldering, the screws will easily come Using the wrong size of self-taping plastic screw for their hole will cause the plastic to crack. If they use larger screws, the plastic will not crack and will last longer. Don't be cheap and buy a better unit. If this is your primary work unit, then don't waste time toying with it. You will be forever annoyed by the little things if you rely on this unit.
In my case, I had to get a replacement iron that would work with the Temp Control Unit. In the course of replacing my old iron, I noticed it had become intermittent. My imagination may be playing tricks on me here, but this one seems to heat up faster than the old one did. As a result, the price was reasonable and I was able to continue to use the temperature control unit I have currently.
I have found that it works just as well as my original one and as I hold it, I find that the sponge ring around the base is more comfortable.
The seller and Amazon were very helpful in getting me my order in two The business is back in operation again! As an engineer who does a lot of soldering and repairs radios and amplifiers, it can't be for too long that I'm down.
Now I have to replace the tip since the screw is basically welded into place. After I removed the screw, the tip is basically welded to it. My search for Weller instructions didn't result in any results, so I went to their website and searched. What do I have to do now? I guess I need to buy another one.
The Weller station was easy to fit into. When used on variable settings for smaller parts, it works great.
It's great that the Weller soldering iron can be used on a variable-temperature workstation. Without a variable temperature feature on the work station, we would not recommend using the Weller SPG40.
It is a nice iron and I have three of them I use in various My only tip is to not leave them plugged in too long since I use them with the base. Friend of mine burned out the element on one of them after leaving it on too long.
