These should be bought. This isn't something I'm being paid to say. To be honest, you get a lot of bang for your buck with these. I used an electroplate to iron a 3d print and ran it for a long time, about 20 minutes. It blued the plating in 30 minutes, bone dry and whole, and the tip didn't flake or oxidize to the point of being deformed. br>br>Much less expensive tips have smaller heads. These are sharp, have good sheer edges, warm up quickly, transfer heat well, and wet easily. br>br>For one of my projects, I was forced to use an acidic solder paste, which I despise. Especially with rosin fluxed solder, because I usually get some pitting between the burt rosin and the acid. I'm used to cheaper tips that look the same in photos and have similar shapes, but these are longer, heavier, and more durable, with better plating and solder adhesion as well as heat transfer. I used the wedge tip to desolder a power supply, and it quickly made pools at 450°C, cooled quickly on the sponge, re-silvered, and was undamaged. The wedge hasn't pitted anywhere on the surface after two test uses and a full project. br>br>I'll try to post a photo of this one vs. one of the less expensive types I see being sold later.
I have a HAKKO soldering iron and purchased these tips to supplement it so that I can learn how to use different tips for different soldering projects. They've failed miserably because the soldering iron it's supposed to fit in doesn't even fit! The quality of the advice is also poor. I couldn't use them because they didn't feel solid, and if you look at the bottom of the picture, you can see that these tips are hollow! They're also the incorrect size and diameter! The longer tip on my soldering iron is shown in the photos. The longer tip is solid, has a longer length, and is compatible with my soldering iron. The soldering tip toolkit is too thick to fit in the soldering iron because it is small, hollow, and small! TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW! I'm returning mine right now as I write a review of this dreadful product; thanks for reading, and please be cautious about what you buy! It's a drag to return things. My soldering iron tip toolkit is all I need. ONE THAT FITS AND IS QUALITY MADE!.
So far, all of the tips have fit perfectly on my Ryobi One Dual Power Soldering Iron, which is why I ordered them in the first place. I ordered based on the posted measurements, which were thankfully accurate. I like this soldering iron because I can take it with me anywhere and use it with a battery or use it inside on AC power. However, Ryobi's tip selection is limited, so I'm glad to have other options. I'll update if they turn out to be of poor quality, but they appear to be fine.
I just bought these tips to replace some that were breaking off my Aoyue unit; I'm not sure what they're made of, but they don't tin, instead reacting with solder paste and coating the tip and shaft in a strange black crud. It happened again after I SOS removed it. The clearances are incorrect, and the element does not reach the tip, resulting in the unit not getting hot enough and becoming cold on occasion.
So far, I've only used the finest tip, but it's perfect for the iron and does an excellent job.
I just received these and have only tried a few of the suggestions. A LONOVE 926 Soldering Iron Station was used in this project. (These aren't listed in the description, but they are appropriate. ) I was willing to take a chance that they'd work). Following the initial conditioning and testing of the tip; The tips appear to be excellent at transferring heat. I experimented with temperatures as high as 850 degrees Fahrenheit. I've only had them for a few days and am looking forward to seeing how they perform over time. term. As with any advice; br>br> They need to be looked after, and these appear to be durable. So far, they've performed admirably.
These 900M series tips are compatible with a wide range of irons available on Amazon. They're comfortable to use, heat up quickly, and solder perfectly. The tips aren't compatible with the Hakko 936 Soldering Station, which uses a 908 iron. br>Soldering Stations are identical, but the irons vary in size.
