What is the best way to tell if these will work with my iron? Isn't it true that my weller is getting on in years?

Probably not; it appears that newer irons have a smaller diameter tip; these are 3/16" and 1/2" long; mine is 1/4" and 1 1/2" long; I believe the ceramic element was overheated and burned out.

The product was advertised as a five-pack, and I needed all of them to replace in the machines at school, and it worked just as well as the original part. One single tip was given to me. Because they showed "item had shipped," I was unable to persuade them to understand "just send the other four. " I was told by Amazon to cancel the order but keep the one I already had and then re-order. order. Regrettably, the seller had been hired on a temporary basis. The product was good, and the price was reasonable; the packaging, however, was inadequate. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I will place another order with them.
