Questions & Answers
Heat shrink wrappers are exactly what they sound like. Instead of using electrical tape to wrap wires, you use them to wrap them. I'm going to give those to my husband because I'm going to use my gun for crafting.
It's made of a material known as plastic. This heat gun doesn't have any rubber on it.
It blows a lot of hot air, but not a lot of it. It can be found in a variety of arts and crafts projects. Paint is drying, plastic is shrinking, adhesive is melting so stickers can be removed more easily, and so on.
Yes, I filed a lawsuit for it, and it was successful.

I liked that it came with the small plastic straw-like pieces for resealing my frayed wires or chargers. I bought it to emboss, and it's fantastic! The price is extremely reasonable, and the gun's actual body never gets hot! The gun heats up quickly and works flawlessly, and I'm so glad I finally decided to give embossing a try!.
I also wanted to try it with alcohol inks to see what kind of effects I could get. br>br>The only issue, as others have pointed out, is the short cord. Because outlets are typically placed closer to the floor and some work desks are tall, having a shorter cord makes little sense; it only measures 38in. from the start (the heat gun's base) to the finish (the plug, pins, and all (I wanted to write down a whole number)). It would have been nice to have ten or fifteen more inches, but whatever. Overall, it looks great, functions well, and I'm glad I bought it! br>br>oh, and in case you tossed the instructions out without reading them, don't leave it on for more than ten minutes at a time, or it will overheat!.
EDIT: Allowing your husband to use it to dry out a motorcycle gas tank is not a good idea. It's going to pass away. I'm going to go out and get another one as soon as possible. Then I'm going to hide it! br>br>I bought this to shrink wrap the cold process soaps I make, and it works much better than a hair dryer. br>I did try one of the shrink wrap tubes that came with it, and it worked as well as the others. However, I don't think I'll ever use them. br>br>However, my fiance claims that it is insufficiently powerful for his needs. Something to do with removing rubber from something by heating it up. I'm pretty sure that wasn't the intended use, and I bought it for myself, not for him, so it doesn't affect my review, but just in case anyone else was curious. br>br>Will buy again if/when it burns out, which is inevitable with all appliances.
At work, I use a torch to solder copper pipes. I use a soldering iron at home to solder computers, electronics, and small motors. This heat gun was purchased to heat shrink an ignition coil wire on a Toyota Rav4 V6. I have a heat gun that can get hot enough to melt solder. It didn't melt the solder or singe any wires with this gun, which was ideal. The heat shrink was shrunk, and the wires were perfectly sealed. It's highly likely that if I can use it on a $15k SUV without destroying any wiring, it'll do the job perfectly for you. It will take some time to heat up, but there will be no more scorching wires or shrinking heat shrink with a lighter.
Works for small projects; however, the cord is SHORT 3'(guess) and would not be suitable for a production environment, even on a small scale. One word of caution: if you don't have the ability to let your computer cool down before turning it off, your life expectancy will be shortened. I'm not going to buy anything else.
I was hesitant to purchase this item because the price made me think it would be a bad investment, but I'm glad I did. It does what it's supposed to do, and I've had no issues with it. I should point out that it's made of very light plastic. So, keep in mind that it could get hot, and don't leave it unattended. It's something I use about 5 times a week. Because I usually have everything ready to wrap and only need to add the finishing touches, I only wrap for 7 minutes. So far, everything has gone smoothly. Although there is only one speed, it heats up sufficiently to shrink wrap. It's a short plug-in cable, but I keep it on my kitchen counter for child safety, and it works fine; it's a little loud, but not excessively so. My purchase has satisfied me.
This heat tool is lightweight, which I like, but it is noisier than my previous two heat tools. It heats up more slowly than the last three heat tools I've had. It's perfect for drying mixed media, watercolors, and embossing. br>br> It fulfills my requirements. br>br>Because it was so cheap, I got exactly what I paid for. It accomplishes the task at hand, but it isn't as nice as others I've purchased for a higher price. I'm a snob when it comes to heat tools, so I was trying to save money on this one.
I'm looking for a way to fix the strips that hold the ends of my shoes together. I was able to shorten the laces by doing so. I was about to purchase a dedicated shoelace repair kit when someone suggested that I just get shrink-wrapped shoelaces instead. Tubing and a heat gun are less expensive and provide *much* more shrink material. So I got this gun, and it was fantastic; It heats up quickly, which means it can start shrinking tubes right away, and the entire process only takes a few seconds. This gun is a perfect solution, and it's *much* less expensive than other options without sacrificing any functionality.
